A Boy's Place

We love this boys' playroom on Allee Elms Drive in Johns Creek. The decor of the room is a combination of local finds from Facebook Marketplace, Rooms To Go Kids and Ikea.

The rest of the house received equal attention to detail. For their first home together, the owners of this 2010 built Ashton Woods craftsman took inspiration from some of their favorite Southern vacation spots: WaterColor Hotel and Resort in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida where they honeymooned and Asheville's Grand Bohemian Hotel, a favorite yearly travel destination. Owners Chuck and Cyndra Wilkinson loved the colors in the Grand Bohemian so much they asked the front desk concierge and ended up using both (Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter and Heather Gray) in their 1930s "Hollywood Regency" inspired guest room with mirrored furniture. While on their honeymoon the Wilkinsons drew inspiration from Alabama artist's work they ran across, Paige August Summers, who combines earth tones and interesting ideas to create incredible portraits. Summers ended up painting a custom portrait for the couple based on photographs and descriptions that is hung in their home today. They had help from Sherri Brown of Lawson Brown Creative Services. Brown meld the couples' traditional and glamorous tastes together through various works throughout the home such as a fan made out of turbine vents and framed wallpaper. Renovated by Ira Lacey of Lacey Custom Carpentry who created built-ins with serpentine marble countertops in the family room plus French doors and the transom in Chuck’s office. Owner Chuck Wilkinson also added crown molding throughout as well as a backsplash in the kitchen.
