When you step into this Colorado modern farmhouse-style home, the first thing you notice is the dramatic natural light that fills the vaulted great room and adjoining kitchen.

This home was built to capture the ample year-round Colorado sunlight at all times of day. It’s an instant mood booster, says real estate agent Paige McLaughlin of ReMax Alliance.

This five-bedroom, four-bathroom home sits on the new Fox Hill housing development just south of Parker. Its Chip-and-Joanna-Meet-Colorado-Farmhouse vibe comes authentically.

Fox Hill is a new farm-to-table neighborhood — one of the few in the United States — in which the custom homes are built around a working, professionally managed farm, much like golfing communities or neighborhoods built around a community pool and clubhouse.

Paige and her husband Doug McLaughlin are the exclusive agents for the newly built Fox Hill homes. Doug grew up on what is now Fox Hill, in the 1912 Charleston-style farmhouse that currently serves as the listing office and will eventually be used as the neighborhood’s clubhouse.

Doug’s parents sold the farm to a Colorado-native developer who had visions to keep the spirit of the old farmstead alive. This unique neighborhood has sprawling lots, and residents will have access to the fruits of the working farm once mature, with its fruit orchards, berry patches and other crops of Fox Hill Farm.

Paige says her favorite part of this 4,200 square-foot home is the open main living, with the centerpiece being the gourmet cook’s kitchen with plenty of dining and mingling space.

“The fun matte black herringbone tile in the kitchen anchors the space beautifully with a classic design with a modern twist,” she says. “I love the cohesive play of the classic matte black features in the home with the creamy white cabinetry mixed with the natural wood of the kitchen island.”

She says thoughtful details such as the herringbone backsplash are sprinkled throughout the home. From the laundry and mudroom to the master bathroom, the tilework complements the farmhouse style but adds a touch of whimsy and modern elegance.

“In the master bathroom, I love the custom tile design. It brings a touch of classic Colorado into this modern farmhouse,” Paige says. “Farmhouse designs will forever be timeless and classic. It’s been so fun to be a part of the design process and bring a modern edge to a timeless design.”

Paige says many times, people looking for a home have to sacrifice items on their wish list, but that’s not the case here.

“There isn’t an item in the home I would change — the herringbone backsplash in the kitchen, the fireplace in the master, and the lighting is phenomenal,” Page says. “When you add up all those incredible details within the home and you look at the amenities outside the home — acreage, mountain views and the farm-to-table community — this home is a home run.”

Apart from all the physical touches of the house, Paige says perhaps the best part of the home is being able to walk out your door and walking to the Fox Hill Farm, with the henhouse, orchards in bloom, and community events that will revolve around the season’s harvest.

“I love that from the kitchen area and covered back patio, you can look up to the hillside and see the farm that started this whole community,” Paige says. “It’s rooted in traditions and legacy and this home is an extension of that legacy.”

Fox Hill Farm

Fox Hill Farm is a professionally managed farm that will provide residents of Fox Hill produce from its orchards, berry patches and other crops once mature. In addition to the currently available eggs from the henhouse, there will be tilapia from the aquaponic fish house and locally brewed beer from on-site hops crops.

Fox Hill Farm also hosts workshops and events that are open to the public, as well as tours for school groups.
