If paradise had a zip code, it might just be 660 River Road in Edgewater, New Jersey. That’s where SoJo Spa Club rises above the Hudson River—a 140,000-square-foot wellness wonderland with skyline views so stunning you’ll forget you’re still in the Garden State.
I finally visited SoJo after hearing friends rave about it for years, and this time I brought my mom along for a much-needed day of relaxation. The moment we stepped onto that rooftop deck, we understood the hype. The combination of crisp air, warm water and shimmering Manhattan views was pure magic—and sharing that moment with her made it even more special.
We spent the day exploring every sauna, soak and salt scrub SoJo has to offer—and trust us, this isn’t your average spa day. It’s a full-body adventure, equal parts rejuvenating and Instagram-worthy.
Morning: Dip, Steam, Repeat
Start your day early (doors open at 9 a.m.) and head straight for the rooftop infinity pool, where you can sip your coffee while gazing at Manhattan’s glittering skyline. From there, wander down to one of eleven specialty outdoor pools and therapeutic baths—each offering a unique experience, from jet massages to mineral-infused therapeutic waters.
Feeling bold? The Volcanic Sand Bath, imported straight from Ibusuki, Japan, lets you literally sink into warmth as fine grains envelop your body—an experience equal parts bizarre and blissful.
Midday: Sweat It Out, Korean Style
Inside, you’ll find eight different sauna rooms, each with its own personality. The Himalayan Salt Room glows with pink serenity, while the Ice Room delivers a refreshing chill that’s both shocking and strangely addictive. True spa purists will want to experience the traditional Korean body scrub, a signature SoJo ritual that leaves your skin smoother than silk and your stress evaporated.
Afterward, drift into the ESPA full-service spa, where expert therapists offer massages, acupressure and a signature scalp treatment available as part of the ESPA massage package.
Note: SoJo does not offer facial treatments, and acupressure services are distinct from the Chinese reflexology and Japanese shiatsu techniques offered separately at the spa—important cultural distinctions that set each modality apart.
Afternoon: Lounge, Lunch and Lounge Some More
By now, you’ve earned a meal. The Food Hall serves up everything from ramen to refreshing smoothies, and in warmer months, the seasonal rooftop lounges are perfect for an alfresco bite.
The rooftop garden on the eighth floor—also seasonal—offers a lush, quiet escape framed by panoramic views of the city. (It is currently closed for the season.)
If you’re feeling productive, SoJo even has a co-working space with desks, Wi-Fi and private phone booths—because who says wellness and work can’t coexist? Or check into one of the 22 hotel rooms, including four spacious suites, to extend your staycation into a full wellness weekend.
Evening: Sunset Serenity
As the sun dips behind the skyline, the pools glow with soft light and the steam from the saunas curls into the twilight. It’s the kind of magic that makes time slow down—where every inhale feels like renewal.
Whether you’re visiting for a few hours or a full day, SoJo Spa Club is a place to recharge, reconnect and rediscover balance.
