A Day Trip To The Delaware River

Spend Your Day On The River And Your Night In New Hope

Face it, we’re all still feeling pretty cooped up. But gas prices aren’t letting us go very far. So how about a quick road trip that’s only about an hour and change away that you can do in just a day or two?

A trip along the Delaware might just have enough juice to get your blood going with some rafting, kayaking, or tubing along the river. There’s enough whitewater to make it exciting and enough calm to make it relaxing. There are plenty of companies along the river, but if you aim for River Country in Bucks County (rivercountry.net), you’ll be in range to change into some dry clothes and head a little bit further south to the quirky town of New Hope.

New Hope, in case you’re not familiar, is home to some unique shopping experiences that can only be described as “eclectic”, a bustling art scene, the Bucks County Playhouse, and a diverse enough list of restaurants to give Montclair a run for its money. Salt House, Zoubi, and Havana are all spots worth checking out.

New Hope’s sister town of Lambertville, NJ is just a walk across the bridge where you’ll find more of the same laid-back atmosphere, antiques, and history you’ll see on the other side of the river. And if you get over to Lambertville, there’s a hidden gem tucked away on Coryell Street that’s perfect for an after-dinner drink called the Boathouse. It’s a place that is mostly known to just the locals.

After a day on the river and shopping, you’ll find that the couches there are deadly comfortable, so be warned ahead of time — this might be the moment you’re happy that you chose to reserve a room in a local B&B ahead of time.
