“Our vision was simple,” says Joey Cochran, Food & Beverage Manager at Alisal River Grill. “Reinvent Christmas. Create a space that feels entirely transformed—like stepping into a holiday storybook.” What began as a bold, creative experiment quickly evolved into one of the Valley’s most anticipated seasonal traditions—an elevated, joy-filled experience where the warmth of community blends seamlessly with the spirit of celebration.

This December, the magic returns—bigger, brighter, and even more spirited. In the days leading up to December, the staff deck the halls in earnest: draping garlands, stringing hundreds of lights, and hanging oversized ornaments. This year, they’ll even rig a snow machine to create a grand, frosty entrance. The holiday décor will spill through the back doors and onto the patio, turning the terrace into a glittering, snow-swept nook for dining under a starry winter sky.

Just minutes from Solvang’s famed Julefest celebrations, Alisal River Grill offers a serene counterpart—where the same festive spirit mingles with riverside tranquility, local wine, and a touch of indulgence. Guests often arrive after a day of shopping or wine tasting, cheeks flushed from the winter air, ready to sink into the glow of the season. Step through the decorated entrance, and the mood is instantly set: playful, cozy, and unmistakably merry.

The menu leans into seasonal flavors and locally sourced ingredients, a hallmark of Alisal’s culinary philosophy.
