A Girls’ Weekend at Palm House

For a girls’ weekend in Palm Beach, location matters. We wanted somewhere that felt like a getaway without planning the entire weekend around transportation. Palm House delivered on both.

Located on Royal Palm Way, Palm House sits between Royal Poinciana and Worth Avenue, putting much of Palm Beach within easy reach. Shops, restaurants and the island’s quieter residential streets are all nearby. We used both the hotel’s complimentary bicycles and house car during our stay, making it especially easy to get around. The scenic Lake Trail is also close by and well worth a morning walk or ride along the Intracoastal.

Despite its central location, Palm House feels removed from the activity outside. The property has the privacy of a small resort, centered around the Sunset Pool Deck and its tropical landscaping.

The pool quickly became our gathering place. Comfortable loungers and attentive food and beverage service create a social atmosphere without feeling crowded. We swam, ordered lunch and cocktails, played mahjong and spent hours catching up with nowhere else we needed to be.

The Atlantic is less than a tenth of a mile from the hotel. Guests can easily walk to the beach, where Palm House can arrange chairs, umbrellas and towels. It’s a particularly convenient amenity if you want to move between the beach and pool throughout the day without hauling equipment or getting in a car.

Dining is another reason there’s little need to leave the property. The Dining Room overlooks the pool and serves a Japanese and Peruvian-influenced menu featuring sushi, sashimi, seafood, and dishes that work particularly well for sharing. For a group, it made dinner easy: order across the menu, put everything in the middle and settle in.

Before dinner, we inevitably found ourselves at The Palm Bar. We also ended up back there after a night out for drinks and bites around town. It has the feel of a classic hotel cocktail bar interpreted through Palm Beach: polished, comfortable and, fittingly, very pink.

What worked so well about Palm House for a girls’ weekend was how little coordination it required. Worth Avenue, the beach, Lake Trail, restaurants and shopping were all close, while the pool, bar and dining room gave us plenty of reasons to stay put.

We could explore Palm Beach in the morning, spend the afternoon by the pool and still meet downstairs for cocktails before dinner. For a weekend built around spending time together, that ease may have been Palm House’s best amenity.
