A God Wink Moment

"It takes a community to make this House a home."

"On January 1st, 2023, the renovation of the New Ronald McDonald House began, with a move in date for our families of September 2023. With great enthusiasm, I am glad to announce, we made that date, and our families are now in our new home."

For over 41 years the Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Central Florida has kept families close to their seriously ill children. The House program is built on a simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest.

In 2022, 842 families were served in the 31-bedroom home and over 2,752 families were turned away. With the new home and a capacity for 50 family suites, the House will be able to serve an additional 682 families per year. With a world class children's hospital and outstanding doctors, families come from all over the world to Gainesville, Florida, experiencing health challenges from cardiac issues, premature birth, cancer to trauma.

“To make this happen, so many people in this community showed up and made this House a home," provided Sherry Houston, Chief Executive Officer of the Ronald McDonald House. "So many great relationships were created during this time of need and our families still need our community's love and support."

If interested in getting involved, Sherry would love to match your passion to the needs of the families.
