Were you ready for October 15? That’s when Medicare’s enrollment period kicked off this year, and there are a lot of new options to consider—even if you’re already happily enrolled.

That’s where Sherry Harbin, a licensed insurance agent with HealthMarkets Insurance Agency, can help.

“Open enrollment can be a confusing time,” she says. “Everyone should call or meet with an agent to better understand the new plans, and to make sure they have a plan that best meets their needs.”

With only so many hours available in the day, it’s important for people to speak with someone like Sherry soon. “I help seniors navigate the Medicare maze, as well as assist individuals, families and small businesses with their health insurance needs,” she explains.

“We spend hours reviewing changes to Medicare plans on our own—so we can help you better understand the benefits of other plans.”

Plus, Sherry’s help comes fast. “We usually have answers in about 30 minutes or less,” she says. “It’s the smartest half-hour investment you’ll make.” Best of all, Sherry’s services are free—consultations cost you nothing.

While Sherry’s part of a larger HealthMarkets network, she’s also proud of her local ties—having moved to Loveland almost 20 years ago, Sherry now lives in Maineville with her family. She also belongs to both the Little Miami River Chamber Alliance and the MADE Chamber in Mason.

Community, she says, is important. So is conversation.

“I always offer to meet with those who are looking into Marketplace plans—as well as those who have Medicare—so I can really help them navigate the process,” Sherry says.

Close to home, she’s excited that HealthMarkets is growing in our own area to better meet this community’s needs.

“I’m licensed in numerous states (including Ohio and Kentucky), but really love to work within my local and surrounding communities,” she says. “It’s important to me that I meet people in person whenever possible.”

Of course, everyone has different concerns. Before enrolling in any Medicare plan, Sherry advises clients to consider three crucial components:

Prescriptions
Which medications are you taking, and which ones might you need to start taking? The formulary list for the Medicare Advantage plan you’re currently on might change in the coming year. It’s crucial to understand how much your medications might cost or if they’ll be covered.

Providers
“Provider lists tend to stay pretty stable from year to year,” Sherry points out. But what you might want to consider on the provider side of a Medicare plan is whether or not a specialist you’ll be seeing this year is also on that list.

Plan Design
Alright, so you’ve reviewed prescription coverage and the provider list, and now it’s time to consider other plan differences. Every plan has its own “sweet spots” that make it different from others. For example, co-pay rates will vary from plan to plan—and that’s a big component to evaluate.

Whether you’ve got questions, concerns or just need clarification on options and plans, count on Sherry to be your go-to expert—and local advocate.
