What inspired you to create Joon, and how did you envision it standing out in Bellevue’s beauty scene?
With Joe Bae Salon turning 10 this year, I wanted to challenge myself to grow the brand. I was teetering with the idea of opening a barber shop, but my wife, Allison, introduced me to the concept of a head spa, and it just clicked. We saw an opportunity to bring Bellevue’s first Luxury head spa where our guests can really elevate their hair and scalp care journeys.
How do Joon’s services reflect your personal beauty philosophy or Korean skincare traditions?
Part of my beauty philosophy is finding time to take care of yourself and your values whatever that may look like in your season of life. We aim to craft spaces where our guests can experience a place where they feel they can value their beauty, their health, and themselves and be fully immersed in the relaxation and pure delight that comes when you put yourself and your scalp care first.
As a newly opened space, what do you hope first-time guests will feel or take away from their experience here?
We hope guests feel transported to a space where they totally leave behind outside stresses or anxieties and experience a level of hospitality and attention to detail that is unmatched in this industry. Our team is educating on the value of scalp health in the hopes that our guests understand more about the role their scalp health plays in their hair health and overall wellness.
What are your favorite “can’t-miss” treatments at Joon for someone looking to refresh their summer glow?
At Joon, to deliver the highest tier of Luxury, we utilize Tekara Belmont Yume head spa technology. These chairs are designed for comfort and have an attachment that allows the guest to have their hair immersed in a soothing waterfall treatment. The Mist Cap offered in our Signature and Luxe level services are also incredibly relaxing and opens the hair follicle to allow the treatments to further permeate the scalp.
