Nestled on five acres, the whimsical Ashton Creek Vineyard is the perfect destination for a day of wine-tasting with family and friends. The Thibault family-founded vineyard serves the Tri-Cities area, providing a friendly environment to its guests and the local community. Their experience visiting vineyards abroad is the inspiration behind the Thibault family’s determination to bring the captivating vibe of the vineyards back to their home in Chester. While other regions of Virginia host a vast number of wineries and vineyards, Director of Operations Rachel Thibault says, “Our immediate area is home to just a few–which serves to emphasize the gratitude we feel that we get to serve the area with integrity and hospitality and of course the best wines around. We adore what we bring to the table and the people that meet us there.”

Easily accessible yet secluded, Ashton Creek Vineyard operates with its guests’ best experience in mind. “The vibe we produce can be described as welcoming, pleasant, and soothing,” Rachel says. “Drive through our front gates and enter what many have called a hidden gem and oasis.” In addition to its charm, Ashton Creek offers its guests twenty-one wines, with the option of a self-guided wine tasting or a wine flight. The vineyard’s most famous wines, Willie’s White, Bailey’s Bold, and Side Way’s, are named after the Thibault’s vineyard dogs. If purchased by the bottle, $4 from the sale goes to support C.A.R.E. in Richmond, an organization that rescues neglected and abandoned animals.

Ashton Creek is also the perfect place to host a special occasion. Their rustic-chic barn can host 200 people for a wedding, and their beautiful banquet room is ideal for smaller events. The vineyard also hosts a variety of events open to the public. Craft fairs, live music, animal adoption events, and yoga classes are just a few. Exclusive events are also available to membership holders only. Whatever the occasion, Ashton Creek is sure to deliver a memorable experience. Rachel is excited to share that their sister location, Riverside Vines, is in the works in Sutherland, VA. “We hope to have the same positive impact on the Dinwiddie County Sutherland area that we have in Chester,” says Rachel.
