The Turnquist family of Engel & Völkers Austin has built a strong reputation in real estate, but their impact on the community goes far beyond helping families find homes. As fifth-generation Austinites, siblings Traci Wilson Turnquist and Colton Turnquist have made it a priority to use their real estate background for the greater good.
Traci’s work with PACT reflects her commitment to supporting those in need. PACT focuses on combating child trafficking, a serious issue affecting communities today. Through her involvement, Traci raises awareness and resources for this cause. “I’ve always believed that the heart of real estate is about connecting with people,” Traci says.
As the host of From Waterloo to the Alamo, Traci highlights local stories that showcase Central Texas culture. The podcast covers topics ranging from real estate trends to interviews with business owners and cultural figures. “We really try to focus on local businesses in and around Central Texas. Austin and San Antonio are growing so quickly, and even as a 5th-generation Austinite, I have a hard time keeping up with new restaurants and businesses,” she explains. “I think it’s important to support local businesses and bring attention to the causes that need to be heard. We also spotlight our Global Real Estate Advisors. We have such incredible advisors, and it’s important for us to share them with the world.”
Upcoming episodes feature notable guests from various industries, offering listeners a deeper connection to the community. Whether speaking with restaurateurs or entrepreneurs, Traci’s podcast creates a platform to share stories that matter.
Like his sister, Colton Turnquist is equally committed to giving back. One of his passions is golf, and he participates in charity tournaments that support various causes. “One of my passions is golf, and I try to participate in as many charity golf tournaments as a way for me to help contribute to multiple organizations,” he shares. Colton is especially involved with Special Olympics, combining his love of golf with a dedication to helping others. “Our brokerage is passionate about Special Olympics, and being able to help the special needs community with activities such as teaching them how to play the game of golf has encouraged me to get involved.”
Colton sees real estate as a powerful way to build connections and raise awareness. “Real estate is such a vessel for meeting all different types of people, and my clients have really helped create awareness of many organizations that need attention. Being able to do what you love for a living and simultaneously give back to the community has made for a very rewarding career,” he says.
Traci’s involvement with Special Olympics also aligns with her family and business values. “Engel & Völkers Americas is a proud champion of Special Olympics. We are committed to raising more than $70,000 a year to make a difference in the lives of Special Olympics athletes,” she explains. “Engel & Völkers has created several opportunities to support Special Olympics, including our Contribution at Closing program, EVX fundraisers, and partnering with local Special Olympics chapters.”
Together, Traci and Colton Turnquist have not only built a thriving real estate business but also created a legacy of charitable efforts, making Central Texas a better place for everyone.
