Terry Lambert fell in love with numbers in high school when he took his first accounting class.
“I think what I really liked about it is [the numbers] all kind of balance,” Terry says. “Everything works at the end of the day, and if sometimes it doesn’t work, it’s kind of a puzzle; there’s a right answer, and you’re just trying to fit the puzzle pieces where they need to go.”
Years later, during an internship during his undergraduate studies at Colorado State University, Terry saw firsthand the impact taxes have on businesses and people.
“The tax part was always real dollars,” he says. “It has a very tangible impact on people’s lives or their businesses.”
For more than a decade, Terry worked as a CPA at accounting firm KPMG, Charles Schwab and, like his mom, the IRS. While working at these companies, he saw the bad advice people received when they filed their taxes or set up their businesses. “I realized that there was an opportunity to go out there and help the community be compliant and also make sure they get all the tax advantages and benefits that they deserve and that they’re entitled to,” he shares.
In April, he decided it was time to provide people and businesses with a more comprehensive and tailored tax and financial strategy. So, he launched his own finance and accounting firm, Tailored Tax and Wealth.
His goal at Tailored Tax and Wealth is to provide clients with personalized financial guidance that he wishes more people had access to.
“With my firm, I envision being more of a partner to people,” Terry says. “I don’t want to just be their tax preparer. I want to be more — somebody that they can call if they have questions or [if] concerns come up, and set their life up so that they’re maximizing their financial outcome or their outlook.”
At Tailored Tax and Wealth, Terry works with individuals, families and businesses to minimize the amount of taxes they pay and help them meet their financial goals.
