Namaste! Dhira Yoga Center is community. Dhira yogis practice either Livestreaming or In Studio. Beside their daily classes, three yoga philosophy courses are offered as well as teacher trainings. All offerings are rooted in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Practice at Dhira includes the familiar “asana” -- the inversions, forward bends and backbends, twists and binds, all the physical poses most people think of as yoga. Less familiar, yet equally part of Dhira's offerings are the other seven “limbs” enumerated in Patanjali's Sutras. These are the cultivation of a strong moral foundation, breathing practices, focusing the mind and meditating. A steady practice makes the body strong and light, the mind steady and focused, and the heart full of love and compassion. In these challenging times, Dhira offers a warm community with whom to practice safely and playfully. Memberships allow for practice In Studio, Livestreaming and/or On Demand.
Parighasana(Gate pose)
Parighasana energizes and lightens the side body and increases your capacity to breathe, invites the breath to become truly three-dimensional. In Sanskrit parigha means "the bar used for shutting a gate."
Agnistambhasana (Fire Log Pose)
Agni, the God of Fire, is honored, with an altar of fire logs that serve to sacrifice or melt open the hips and groin, stoked by a steady breath, producing a calm mind.
Kapotasana (Pidgeon Pose)
This pose honors both a bird of peace, the "Kapota" or Pidgeon, and a great yoga master named "Kapota". Placing the heart before the head, the pose increases vigor, strength, vitality, and agility.
