A New Voice Strengthening Roswell’s Community Connection and Engagement

Seasoned communicator Matt Holmes brings experience, energy, and a passion for connecting residents to the heartbeat of Roswell

In a city defined by connection and community pride, strong communication is essential to keeping residents informed and engaged. That’s exactly what makes the City of Roswell’s newest leadership addition such a meaningful one. Meet Matt Holmes, recently named Director of Communications and Engagement—a role focused on strengthening how the city connects with its people.

With nearly 25 years of experience across journalism, broadcasting, and public sector communications, Holmes brings both expertise and energy to the position. More importantly, he brings a genuine passion for storytelling and community engagement—two elements that are central to Roswell’s identity.

In his new role, Holmes will lead the City’s Communications and Engagement Department, overseeing strategic messaging, community outreach, special events, and transparency initiatives. His goal is simple yet impactful: to ensure residents feel informed, involved, and connected to what’s happening in their city.

Holmes most recently led public involvement efforts for the Georgia Department of Transportation’s I-285 Top End Express Lanes Project, helping communicate complex updates to the public. Prior to that, he served as Communications Director for the City of Tucker, where he built a communications program from the ground up—earning national recognition for innovative outreach and engagement.

His career began in journalism, with roles in radio and television across Virginia, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C., before moving to metro Atlanta. Locally, he spent time with 11Alive News and Sportsradio 92-9 The Game, including work as a studio host for the Atlanta Falcons Radio Network during Super Bowl LI coverage. These experiences shaped his ability to connect with audiences in meaningful, accessible ways.

Roswell Mayor Mary Robichaux shared her excitement about Holmes’ appointment, noting his strong public sector experience and strategic approach to communication.

For Holmes, joining Roswell is both a professional opportunity and a personal one. He calls it a “dream come true,” drawn to the city’s engaged residents and vibrant community spirit. Outside of work, he remains active as a youth mentor, church member, and recreational soccer coach.

As Roswell continues to grow, Holmes’ leadership will help ensure the city’s voice remains clear, connected, and rooted in community.
