A Pastime Mecca

The Foundry Entertainment Complex Has Everything You Need For a Fun Night Out

The Foundry Entertainment Complex – housing Foundry Social, High Voltage Indoor Karting and MAD Brewing Company – is Medina County's premier place to let loose and have some fun. There is no shortage of things to experience at this entertainment hub. With over 150,000 square feet – 80,000 that has yet to be developed – the Foundry is a pastime mecca for adults.

The History of the Foundry

The Foundry Entertainment Complex is located in a true, historic foundry that manufactured metal castings throughout the 20th century. In fact, it's been standing for more than 125 years; since 1912 to be exact. Before it transitioned into the Foundry Entertainment Complex, it was a manufacturing plant for air conditioner castings.

High Voltage Indoor Karting

High Voltage was the Foundry Entertainment Complex's first installment, opening just over five years ago. Because it is an indoor facility, it offers high-speed go-karting no matter the weather! That's right, this indoor racetrack can even be experienced during those harsh Ohio winters. And when the weather is good, they also have the state’s largest outdoor track add on that lets racers go from inside to outside and then back in. It is also the longest straightaway on the track. In all, it takes up about 40,000 square feet of the Foundry Entertainment Complex and can be enjoyed by adults and younger ones alike, as both adult and junior karting are offered.

The Foundry Social

The Foundry Social, a 30,000-square-foot arcade, specializes in exceeding expectations. From skee ball and billiards to duckpin bowling, a video game wall dubbed "The Arena," ping pong, bocce and favorite old school arcade games such as Pac-Man and Mortal Kombat, they quite literally have it all. Since opening in November 2019, it's quickly turned into a local attraction and a coveted weekend hangout spot. Aside from its plethora of nostalgic games, it has a full-service bar, party and event space rooms and dining menu featuring dishes that are more than your average pub fare.

From a build-your-own burger option to smoked meatballs smothered in out-of-this-world barbecue sauce, the Foundry Social's bar menu offers traditional American cuisine with a twist. Similarly, their cocktail list offers recognizable booze-filled beverages with unique flavor combinations. Such drinks include their Black Tea Mule, featuring black tea-infused bourbon, fresh blackberry and ginger juice, fresh lime juice, ginger beer and a lime wheel garnish, as well as their Bartender’s Spritz, a rendition of the traditional Aperol Spritz. And if you're looking for a real treat, their beer cocktails are a must-try; I recommend the Chocolate Drizzled Raspberries – it's a great dessert treat!

MAD Brewing

MAD Brewing is the newest addition to the Foundry Entertainment Complex. Unlike its siblings, High Voltage and Foundry Social, MAD Brewing is the perfect place to escape the crowds and drink a fresh brewski.

"MAD is a little slice of heaven," says Foundry Entertainment Complex co-owner, Gene Whaley. "It's a great place for adults to socialize but it's also very low key and quiet compared to High Voltage and Foundry Social. We've got ample outdoor patio space for people to enjoy during the warmer months and even an outdoor firepit."

Gene also explained that one of the reasons MAD is special is that it is a no-frills space that emphasizes all things beer. Although this means MAD doesn't offer wine and cocktails, they spice up their tap list via their guest brewmaster program. He says, "We have a monthly guest brewmaster program that allows a smaller, independent brewer to showcase four of their beers on our taps. Whichever beer sells the best will end up staying on our taps for an additional three months. It means that we always have something new for people to try, but it also helps support the many independent brewmasters out there."

Breathing Life Into The Neighborhood

Since the Foundry Entertainment Complex opened its doors, the surrounding neighborhood has experienced a sort of revitalization. In fact, this is one thing that Gene says he is most proud of.

"Since we've moved in, we've noticed the neighborhood has experienced a lot of rejuvenation," he explains. "New roads and sidewalks have been constructed and we've seen that a lot of the surrounding homes have been flipped and renovated."

Gene also emphasizes that the Foundry Entertainment Complex makes an effort to respect the neighborhood by closing at a reasonable hour and ultimately reducing the amount of late-night noises and boisterousness.

Combined, the businesses that make up the Foundry Entertainment Complex offer a quintessential night-out experience for adults. Visit TheFoundrySocial.com for more information and to view their current hours of operation.
