A Place To Stay Biaggi's Ristorante Italiano · Omaha, NE

How Biaggi’s has built a legacy of hospitality spanning more than two decades.

Beyond the warmth of the wood interior and the cozy light lies something warmer and more wonderful: a place that holds memories, shared stories and decades of celebrations.

Biaggi’s Ristorante Italiano has become a staple here in Omaha for many reasons. It’s a place regulars are known by name by servers who have been here for a decade or two, where families gather for baby showers and memorials and everything in between and where guests know they can find exceptional Italian-American comfort food.

Biaggi’s really is more than a restaurant. It stands as a monument to the community it sits within and the people who have made it what it is. So, it’s no wonder that this year marks 25 years of doing just that: caring for the people who have come to make Biaggi’s what it is — a warm and welcoming place to come together.

A Part of Her Story

Behind the scenes, leading and guiding the restaurant’s staff, ensuring the guest experience is exceptional from start to finish and furthering the philosophy of Biaggi’s is General Manager, Renee McMahon.

As with many careers, the path to general manager has come with its twists and turns. Renee has a unique background with experience in different fields, and feels all of it contributes to why she believes she is successful in this role.

“I remember interviewing with Zach, the managing partner at the time, and expressing how important it was for me to have a work-life balance. As a mother of a child with autism, this is a non-negotiable for me. My son is my number one priority and he genuinely seemed to share the same values. I felt right away that Biaggi’s was going to be a great fit for me. The support I continue to receive from my team in this regard is one of the reasons I love working here,” Renee says with a smile.

So, it is no surprise someone like Renee, who values people and balance, would end up being so focused on cultivating culture.

The People Who Stay

Biaggi’s has something special and unique that isn’t always prevalent in the restaurant industry: longevity, not just in its service but among its people. Employees have been at Biaggi’s for 10, 15 and even 20 years. A rare thing to find, Biaggi’s has successfully created a culture built on support, connection and a sense of belonging.

“It’s a really great foundation,” Renee says. “I love the staff here. Truly, the impact of the front-of-house management team, Kevin and Cait, servers, bartenders, kitchen staff, sous chefs and many others who make Biaggi’s what it is can be measured in the relationships they have built. We all work really well together, front of house and back of house. We are one team.”

In the Room

And although it’s the people who truly make Biaggi’s what it is, there’s something to be said for the old-world Italian warmth, too. The cozy atmosphere makes it one of the most welcoming restaurants in the Omaha area.

Framed by warm wood and Italian decor, the dining room feels especially cozy when the fireplace crackles on cool evenings. It’s the perfect complement to a menu that delights the senses and keeps customers coming back time and time again.

Warm and welcoming, the Biaggi’s dining room is a consistently delightful place to gather, no matter the occasion. Whether it’s a date night, an anniversary or a quick weeknight reprieve from cooking dinner, Biaggi’s offers everyone who walks through the door a chance to slow down, settle in and find a little respite from the busy, stressful world outside.

“The experience certainly feels a little upscale,” Renee adds, “but it’s not so elevated that it loses its approachable and comforting feel. We really want to provide our guests with an experience that is warm and inviting while still being accessible. That philosophy extends to our menu as well.”

Familiar for a Reason

Known for its Italian-American cuisine, Biaggi’s menu is filled with longstanding staples, including Lasagna Bolognese and Fettuccine Alfredo. These are the dishes guests have returned to year after year. Alongside them are newer and more innovative offerings, creating a menu that evokes the comfort of down-home Italian cooking while still placing a high value on presentation and finesse.

“There’s really something for everyone,” Renee says. “We have our dishes that people come back to, along with more innovative dishes, like our Lobster Fettuccine, which gets its eye-catching color from squid ink and has become a guest favorite. But if I were to recommend something that most people don’t think about, it would be our pizza.”

With its own pizza oven and house-made dough, Biaggi’s offers an impressive lineup, with familiar standbys such as pepperoni and margherita, along with sausage and mushroom with truffle oil. It’s another example of the balance Biaggi’s has struck over the years: honoring the flavors guests have come to know while continuing to give them something new to discover.

Renee hopes guests who venture in will come back to experience all that Biaggi’s has to offer, from its delicious bruschetta and large wine selection to house-made seasonal desserts.

Whether it’s a recipe that has earned its place on the menu over the years or the curated monthly chef features, each dish is thoughtfully selected and prepared with the hope that guests leave happy, satisfied and already looking forward to their next visit.

The Biaggi’s Experience

From the emphasis on presentation and creating a meal that is not only pleasing to the eye but genuinely delicious to the special care each member of the team takes to make guests feel welcome and cared for, every part of the Biaggi’s experience is thoughtfully considered. People return because Biaggi’s is a place they can depend on, from the food on their plate to the people who welcome them through the door.

Omaha has no shortage of restaurants and new concepts are constantly appearing. But Biaggi’s has lasted 25 years.

To Renee, the reasons are simple.

“The team here is really amazing,” she says. “It sounds kind of cliché to say it, but our people are just really great at making Biaggi’s a place guests want to return to.”

“We are proud to be the place guests choose to come together to celebrate important moments in their lives. Our private spaces are such an important part of what we do every day here at Biaggi’s. Our Event Coordinator, Cait, does an amazing job of making sure each event feels special,” Renee says.

Maybe that longevity comes down to a million little decisions made over 25 years.

It’s the willingness to deliver dinner to a family in need or donate enough food to feed a high school football team before the big game. It’s the thousands of small ways they show up for their guests.

Those moments may seem small on their own, but over time, they become something much bigger: a reputation built on care and consistency.

Perhaps that’s why, as Renee puts it, “People just keep coming back time and time again.”

And for Renee and the entire Biaggi’s team, there may be no greater compliment.
