Tucked away on the Savannah River in Evans you’ll find River Island, a conservation community founded in 2004 that has been voted the best community for the last five years running. It’s a community close enough for an easy commute to the medical and business districts but isolated enough from the hustle and bustle to provide a welcoming haven at the end of the day.
“It’s a lifestyle neighborhood,” says Southeastern Residential Realtor Bobby Bentley, who has been working with River Island for over seven years. “When you come home from work in the afternoon, if you want to go walking, canoeing, kayaking, or fishing, it’s there. It’s a great way to wind down your day.”
Residents of River Island enjoy many amenities including a beautiful pool that overlooks the Savannah River, miles of walking trails and river-front boardwalks, a resident garden, two playgrounds, a two-and-a-half-acre park area, kayak stands, a community boat dock, and The River House, a community club house available for use by residents. “We also have a very active social committee that does things throughout the year,” says Madera Hollowell, also a Realtor with Southeastern Residential. “The committee coordinates activities such as pool parties, porch parties, barbeques, food trucks, movies in the park, a Halloween Party, and a visit from Santa Claus.” Additionally, the neighborhood is also zoned for three of the top schools in Columbia County.
As the only two site agents for River Island, Madera and Bobby are very familiar with every aspect of this community that they love. “At River Island, I feel more like a host than I do a Realtor,” says Bobby. “We’re always happy to share our neighborhood, give people tours, and show them what all we have to offer, what’s available, and what is coming available,” adds Madera. “In fact, we are getting ready to open our next phase of lots and we’re really excited about that.”
As the next phase of the development opens, Southeastern Residential continues to be intentional in the growth of River Island. “It’s a very casual, very relaxed neighborhood,” explains Bobby. “We don’t want to have too much building going on all over the place. We do it methodically where it makes sense and is the least amount of interruption for our residents as we can make it.”
“We also don’t allow just anyone to come in and build at River Island,” adds Bobby. “We make builders use quality, natural products and we require them to have a guild quality designation, which most builders do not have. We build quality and we want the quality to show. We want people to know what they are getting for the investment of their money and what it’s going to be like in five or ten years.”
Although Madera and Bobby specialize in new construction, they also help with resale of homes in River Island and can assist new residents with selling their previous home.
“Bobby and I make a great team out here and we complement each other with our strengths,” shares Madera. “We’re out here seven days a week and we’d love to help anybody who wants to come out to see what River Island has to offer and think they may be in the market to buy or build.”
“We’re in the customer service business and we are not high-pressure Realtors,” adds Bobby. “We care more about helping people and making things easier for them and guiding them. We take great pride in that.”
