A Southern Must-Have:

Dr. Flava’s Shrimp & Grits

Ingredients

Dr. Flava Spices: Cajun, NOLA TWIST, Garlic Herb, and Creole Delight

-1 lb large shrimp cleaned and deveined

-1 Tbsp grapeseed oil

-1/4 red and green bell pepper, diced

-1/4 red onion, diced

-4 strips turkey bacon

-1 cup quick grits

-1/4 cup heavy cream

-1/2 cup parmesan cheese

-¼ tsp salt

- Green Onions

-Assorted Dr. Flava Seasonings

Recipe

Boil 3 cups of water and 1 Tbsp of grapeseed oil. Stir in 1 cup of grits, ¼ tsp of salt, and dash of NOLA TWIST. Be mindful that grits added to boiling water can clump; stir briskly for about 5 minutes to create a creamy texture and shorten cooking time. Season clean deveined shrimp with ¼ tsp Spicy Cajun, No Salt Garlic Herb, and a shake of Original Everything. Drizzle with 1/2 tsp of grapeseed oil, toss and set aside. Check grits, stir briskly, and if too gritty add water and continue to cook. Add parmesan cheese. Let cook on low consistency until thick and creamy not gritty.

Use a nonstick skillet, turn the temperature high, add turkey bacon, and let cook until done for about 5 minutes. Remove from the pan and add the seasoned shrimp to the pan (bacon drippings add “Flava”). Cook shrimp on high temp for 1 minute and turn heat to medium to give a nice sear; cook for only 5 minutes.

Remove from the skillet and add the diced red and green bell peppers, red onions, 2 Tbsps of water and let steam. Sauté for 2 minutes and add 1/4 cup of heavy cream; cook on medium and stir to keep from overcooking. It should get thick; add 1/4 tsp of NOLA TWIST and Creole Delight, a squeeze of lemon, and stir. Lastly, add cooked bacon (chopped or crumbled), toss shrimp, and garnish with green onions. Let cook for 1 minute. Finally, plate your yummy Shrimp and Grits! So good, it makes you wanna kiss the cook!
