A Stage Set for Holiday Magic

Celebrate the season with festive local performances throughout December.

Mason Dance Center: The Nutcracker-All Jazzed Up! 

Mason Dance Center’s (MDC) The Nutcracker-All Jazzed Up! returns to the Mason High School Theater on Dec. 19 and 20. Now in their 23rd year of performances, MDC has honed their unique retelling of the original story of The Nutcracker while switching music genres and dance styles. Nutcracker-All Jazzed Up mixes Tchaikovsky’s traditional music alongside fresh arrangements from sources such as Pentatonix, Glenn Miller and Duke Ellington. This fun twist on the holiday classic has become a celebrated local tradition that you won’t want to miss! MDC offers three opportunities to see their rendition, including Friday, Dec. 19, at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Ticket proceeds from this annual show have supported the Mason High School After Prom since 2002. Mason Symphony Orchestra: Christmas in Mason Bonnie Reeves Festival Concert

Join the Mason Symphony Orchestra (MSO) for an enchanting evening celebrating all things Christmas! Dr. Lucy Ginther and the Mason Symphony Orchestra are excited to perform holiday classics during their Christmas in Mason concert on Dec. 7 at 5:00 p.m. at the Manor House. The MSO will welcome the Celtic Academy of Irish Dance, the Hallelujah Ringers Bell Choir, the Mason Symphonic Chorale, vocalist Jeffrey Dye and even a Singing Santa! The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati: Elf The Musical

This holiday season, The Children’s Theatre (TCT) is bringing back one of the most popular productions in its 105-year history—the junior (one-hour) version of Elf The Musical, based on the New Line Cinema film written by David Berenbaum. Join Buddy the Elf on his hilarious journey from the North Pole to New York City in this heartwarming and sweeter than maple syrup holiday favorite. The show will run from Dec. 5-21 at the legendary Emery Theater. Directed by former TCT Company Manager and Associate Artistic Director Eric Byrd, this show is not to be missed! La Comedia Dinner Theatre: Scrooge! The Musical

La Comedia Dinner Theatre in nearby Springboro has presented many variations of A Christmas Carol over the years, but they decided to do something different for their 2025 production. This year marks the first time they will feature a musical version, based on the 1970 Oscar-nominated movie Scrooge! Enjoy a wonderful musical score by Oscar and Grammy Award-winning composer Leslie Bricusse (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) that brings Charles Dickens' classic novel A Christmas Carol to life like never before. Scrooge! The Musical tells the classic story of redemption and forgiveness, capped off with La Comedia Dinner Theatre’s traditional singing of “O Holy Night,” to celebrate the joy of Christmas. Cincinnati Pops: Holiday Pops Concert                                                           

The Holiday Pops return to Music Hall Dec. 12-14. This year, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Cody Fry will be joining forces with the Cincinnati Pops under the baton of John Morris Russell. The stage will come alive with the sounds of the season, featuring performances by the Studio for Dance, Sycamore High School Select Ensemble, SCPA Chorale, Winton Woods Varsity Ensemble and the May Festival Youth Chorus.
