Talk about a whole new level of fun right in your own backyard—summer is in full swing at O’Bannon Creek Golf Club ... and it’s calling you. This private, member-owned Loveland golf club is idyllically situated on 187 acres off Route 48 near Goshen, offering a park-like course with scenic wood-lined fairways. It’s truly a hidden gem ... nestled back into the trees, away from homes and street noise, making it the perfect place to discover and explore this summer.
Named after the creek that borders the property, the lush golf course has been around for 48 years and offers something for every golf enthusiast and community member. Currently, the club boasts 330 golf members and 130 social members—it also offers an impressive 18-hole course, including five holes with water in play as well as numerous natural hazards and bunkers.
“It’s a fun layout—challenging and enjoyable for all skill levels,” shares Marianne Utz Sahms, Director of Golf and Administration. “First-time players are often struck by the charm and natural beauty of the grounds. Folks never seem to tire of playing the same golf course ... which is a great testament to the design and setting.”
Membership also includes an updated practice facility with an expansive range and short-game practice area, full-service casual fare and fine dining, bar, locker rooms, an award-winning golf shop, and the option of private and group lessons from three PGA golf professionals.
Best of all, if you’re tired of calling around trying to find a tee time for those notoriously busy mornings, evenings or weekends, O’Bannon Creek Golf Club may be just the place for you. With a membership, there’s no need for a reservation, and it’s easy to access the golf course any day of the week. According to Marianne, O’Bannon Creek encourages a fast-paced golf environment, where most members walk the course in 4 hours or less.
Regardless of age, there’s something for every golf lover. The golf club even offers a student membership, where students can play and practice during the week without restrictions. “We’re likely the most junior-friendly private club in town,” smiles Marianne. “We have fielded a PGA Jr. League team for years, and have hosted numerous junior events and championships, as well as fostered a great environment for junior high, high school and collegiate golfers.” Talk about growing with the game.
There are also several tournaments for members, such as men’s and ladies’ championships, two-player team events, ladies’ invitationals, men’s and ladies’ leagues, and couples’ events, just to name a few. Marianne says the golf club has also hosted numerous city and state events and championships through the years.
However, it’s not all about golf 24-hours a day at O’Bannon Creek. With a host of social and charity events, this club is busy day and night. “We’ve worked diligently to create a fun, family-oriented community,” Marianne explains. “It’s a home away from home for our members.”
In fact, members and their guests often partake in the revelry all year long. Favored events include a Fourth of July cookout, special wine tastings, unique festivals, themed dinners, and, of course, annual holiday celebrations. The club is also home to up to 10 charity golf events per season that help raise money and support for nonprofits such as Green Beret Foundation, Stepping Stones Ohio, Child Focus, CancerFree KIDS, and Circle Tail, Inc.
And food and drink choices? They’ve got that well-covered, too. From burgers and wings to gourmet salads and elegant entrées, even the pickiest of eaters will enjoy the dining options, with seating both indoors and out. The main dining room offers a more formal setting, while the grill room, bar, legends room and veranda deliver a decidedly casual, laid-back setting, Marianne says. “It’s a comfortable, cozy setting with great food,” Marianne explains. “We are very proud of what we offer our members.”
In addition, the beautifully outfitted clubhouse is designed to host reserved events, including private gatherings hosted by members, such as birthday parties, baby showers, and rehearsal dinners. The club also often hosts business meetings, card parties, and many other activities at their members’ request.
So whether you’re just dipping your golf shoes onto the green for the first time, or are a long-time, seasoned player looking to up their game, it’s not too late to discover everything O’Bannon Creek Golf Club has to offer. With membership spots still available, you don’t have to miss out on any of the fun this summer (and beyond) has to offer.
