The inspiration began with the inherited, beautiful Noritake Glenwood patterned china. The theme this year is “A Very French Country Vintage Christmas”, but no matter what holiday theme I create each year, I carry the theme throughout the main social areas of our home. To me, carrying the theme throughout these social areas completes the story I’m telling, with each space complimenting the other spaces.

Image 1: For this vintage-inspired Christmas tablescape, I used our inherited Noritake Glenwood patterned China, circa 1959, at each place setting. I then used silver plate chargers and round cedar greenery placemats to compliment the place settings.

Image 2: Starting with a color scheme, this tablescape includes white, green, burgundy, gold, and silver.

Image 3: This table setting is semi-formal, bringing together the comfort of home and the celebration of the holidays!

Image 4: Displaying vintage-inspired vignettes on bookshelves, tabletops, fireplace mantels, or the kitchen island helps each space to complement the other.

Image 5: I kept the table centerpiece fairly neutral with a white faux fur table runner, two simple greenery swags with pine cones, red berries and burgundy ribbons, a green and white ginger jar, and white tabletop Christmas trees. I used vintage-inspired bottle brush trees to decorate our sideboard and hutch to complete the story in here.

Image 6: Having a beautiful tablescape creates a welcoming environment for my family and guests; something that says how special each of them are to me.

Image 7: This year, I wanted our dining room tablescape to take center stage while keeping all other holiday decorations more subtle. To me, this vintage “Remembrance” table is the perfect way to honor the memory of my husband’s parents.

Finally, with the table set, comes my family’s traditional Christmas dinner: rib roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, and dinner rolls with tea or wine. For dessert, I serve a decadent chocolate cake with holiday-flavored coffee or hot chocolate.
