A World of Flavor The Food Zone Grand Texas · New Caney, TX

Global Cuisine, Family Roots, and Community Merge at The Food Zone

Julia Child once quipped, “People who love to eat are always the best people.”

For the Flores household, food has become a generational love affair. Jesse Flores’ parents were restaurateurs, as are many members of his wife Olga’s family.

“One of them is considered one of the best chefs in Mexico,” Flores says. “He didn’t even go to culinary school. It was just something he liked, and it became a passion.”

This alegría por la comida, or joy for food, is folded into the dishes served at Taco Flores, a beloved Humble restaurant founded by the Flores family.

Eight years ago, Flores and Olga expanded their culinary footprint with The Food Zone, a collection of food truck parks. These destinations, located in Porter and New Caney, bring together a curated assortment of permanent vendors. Guests can sample an array of flavors while lingering over a meal.

The Food Zone features permanent trucks, allowing customers to return to their favorite spots. Guests can explore a mix of Mexican, American, Peruvian, Colombian, Venezuelan, Italian, Salvadoran, Indian, and Himalayan cuisine, along with barbecue, bubble tea, and other options.

“We have something for everybody,” says Flores. “Children can play outside while families enjoy incredible food. I find people don’t want to leave.”

One popular vendor is Jesse’s Burgers & Shakes, owned by Flores’ son, Jesse Jr. He serves smash burgers made with fresh ingredients, house-made sauce, and thick shakes. He has accumulated a loyal following.

“Several football players have come out and tried his food, and comedian Gary Owen even hired him to bring the food truck to his home for a birthday party,” Flores says.

For the Flores family, The Food Zone represents an abundance of flavors and a backdrop for small moments.
