Grapevine has long served as an epicenter of the DFW area throughout Texas history. In fact, it’s a year older than the state itself.

Originally founded in 1844, Grapevine served as a neutral haven for settlers under a treaty of “peace, friendship, and commerce” between the Republic of Texas and 10 surrounding Native nations. As decades passed Grapevine became a thriving community, home to people of all walks of life. Today, Grapevine houses more than 58,000 residents, with more moving in.

In the heart of the community, lies Grapevine Lake. In 1947, more than 8,000 acres of land in Grapevine was impounded by the federal government to allow for the creation of the man-made lake. The Army Corps of Engineers strategically fashioned the area to prevent flooding, supply water to surrounding communities, and of course provide recreational enjoyment to locals. Construction was completed in 1952, and the lake filled with the first heavy rain of the season.

Since then, many developments have sprouted all along Lake Grapevine’s shores. With countless residences, restaurants, and businesses.

The south side of the lake, most notably hosts the Gaylord Texan Hotel and Convention Center. Between luxury rooms, atrium gardens, meeting facilities, restaurants, spa services, and a nightclub, options for entertainment are endless. The resort is known for its summertime fireworks, which includes a dazzling display every Friday night over the lake at 9:30 p.m. and of course a July 4th celebration. During the Christmas season, the Gaylord is acclaimed for its ICE! attraction, which features a tour of hand crafted holiday themed ice sculptures.

Offering convenience and adventure, numerous trailheads and campgrounds are intertwined in both the south and north sides of the lake. For a walk at evening sunset, visit Northshore Trail. If seeking hands-on adventure, kayak or paddle-board at Rockledge Park. If passing through, stop for a picnic and overnight stay at The Vineyards Campground and Cabins.

In addition to campgrounds and parks, Grapevine is populated with marinas equipped with facilities perfect for a lake getaway weekend. Check out Scott’s Landing or Silver Lake Marina for boat rentals and exclusive club memberships.

The communities and amenities that stretch across Grapevine are certainly impressive, but what’s coming is even more exciting. Construction has begun on the next phase of the Lakeside community located on the north shore of Lake Grapevine. In addition to the already bustling neighborhood and shops, there will be luxury villas and townhomes starting at $950,000. Extending to the lake’s edge, an extravagant hotel, exquisite restaurants, and a private social club.

The Lake Grapevine community truly has anything one can ask for, with possibilities that are Texas-sized.
