We all know about cheese and charcuterie boards. But the latest food trend taking over food blogs is pancake boards. Elaborate spreads of mini flapjacks, fresh fruit, bacon and sausage, maple syrup, whipped butter and more are arranged on wooden serving platters normally reserved for meat and cheese. Here's how to build a pancake board that's totally Instagram-worthy!

Supplies:

  • Large wooden serving board
  • Small bowls for toppings/accoutrements
  • Mini pitcher for syrup (like what's used for coffee creamer)
  • Utensils for serving

Ingredients:

  • Pancakes
  • Fresh fruit: blueberries, bananas, strawberries, etc.
  • Chocolate chips
  • Maple syrup
  • Bacon and/or sausage
  • Peanut butter, honey or Nutella
  • Butter
  • Whipped cream and/or powdered sugar

Step 1: Make Pancakes

Whip up a batch of your favorite pancakes according to the instructions. Silver dollar pancakes are a fun option and save room for more accoutrements. To keep them warm while you prep everything else, preheat the oven to 200 F. Place the pancakes on a baking sheet, cover them with foil and place them in the oven.

Step 2: Slice Fruit

Slice the fresh fruit, such as bananas, strawberries, blueberries or whatever you like to serve with pancakes.

Step 3: Prepare Bacon and/or Sausage (Optional)

If you're including bacon and/or sausage—which is highly recommended for a salty balance—fry it up!

Step 4: Add Toppings

Slice up some butter and place it in a small dish. Warm up the maple syrup in a little pitcher and dump some chocolate chips in a small dish. Feel free to add chopped nuts, coconut flakes or anything your heart desires.

Step 5: Arrange Your Board

Now comes the fun part: arranging all the goodies on the wooden board! Get creative with the placement of the items. Here are some beautiful pancake boards to inspire you. Bon appétit!
