Living in the Daytona Beach area isn’t a bad choice for a native Floridian and Dr. Schimenti, owner of Tomoka Family Dentistry, is proud to be a GATOR. Chomp Chomp.
“I got both my undergrad and dental degrees from the University of Florida. My keen interest in dentistry started way back as a child growing up with very crooked teeth and feeling very self-conscious of my smile,” says Dr. Schimenti. “I got a huge boost in how I felt about myself after getting orthodontic work done and ending up with a beautiful smile.” Ever since, Dr. Schimenti has been intent on making that difference happen for others.
Her days of building tiny models for fun gave her great practice for developing those hand skills so necessary for dentistry. She now brings years of clinical expertise and a compassion for patients to a practice offering a full range of services in a modern, comfortable setting. Building trust, developing personalized treatments, and working with patients to focus on long-term oral health are the kinds of experiences patients can expect.
The family-oriented practice comes with Luna, the "service dog," to help put nervous patients at ease. Regulars stop by the office just to say hello to Luna. “I have patients who bring her treats and have even knit her sweaters.”
Dr. Schimenti has also started offering therapeutic botulinum toxin treatments to help patients who experience clenching, grinding, and TMJ discomfort due to muscle-related tension. An added benefit of Botox is to be able to offer it for facial aesthetics as well.
The office also uses dermal fillers to help as the skin ages. The loss of collagen as well as hyaluronic acid results in a reduction in structure and volume to the face as we age. That's where dermal fillers can help. Dr. Schimenti uses injectable gels from naturally occurring hyaluronic acid. As a dental practice, the team is highly trained in the entire anatomy of the head and neck as well as the oral cavity.
“My team prioritizes comfort, education, and prevention. We treat every patient as a family member who deserves gentle and compassionate treatment while benefiting from the latest technology. We are also committed to transparent two-way communication,” said Dr. Schimenti. “I focus on comprehensive care with the hope of building trust and relationships that last a lifetime.
Other new offerings include upgraded x-ray technology for the office’s Itero system, allowing the team to capture smaller, faster, and more accurate scans. The Lumina wands are used to scan everything, including crown and bridge work, dentures, partials, diagnostic records, bite guards, implant restorations, and even for Invisalign.
Tomoka Family Dentistry is proud to now offer patients the use of the Philips Zoom WhiteSpeed, an innovative blue LED light technology that provides a safe way to whiten your smile up to eight shades.
