Optimal Wellness Tips from Kelley Nemiro

The importance of nutrition, movement, mindfulness, and listening to your body

Kelley Nemiro, a local certified holistic health coach and the owner of Wellness by Kelley, has traversed a remarkable journey to create a healthier lifestyle, both for herself and for others. Her personal struggles with health issues led her to discover the transformative power of nutrition, intuitive eating, and mindful movement.

Initially facing challenges due to thyroid issues causing hormonal imbalances, Kelley's approach shifted from high-intensity workouts and a diet heavy in meat and dairy to embracing a more plant-focused, low-stress lifestyle. This transformation not only revitalized her physically but also elevated her mental and emotional well-being.

"Within just a few weeks of making these changes, I felt an incredible difference," Kelley reflects. “My uncomfortable daily bloating became a thing of the past. My digestion was the best it had ever been from simply fueling my body with fiber-rich foods. The extra weight I was carrying seemed to fall off, plus my energy levels had increased, and my skin was glowing. I felt like a different person with newfound confidence, and I began to feel excited about life again. To top things off, I was pleasantly surprised when my lab values on my hormones had improved – all this from eating whole foods, slowing down, and listening to my body and intuition.”

Kelley's wellness journey has been shaped by her belief in an intuitive method that encourages listening to your body, tapping into your intuition, and embracing lifestyle changes that work harmoniously with your unique physiology. Her philosophy emphasizes understanding one's body cues and striving for a balanced, nourishing lifestyle rather than adopting strict diets or intense workout regimens.

“I really tuned in to my intuition while stepping into the health and wellness space,” said Kelley. “I became a certified health coach at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition so I could help other women improve their health and feel their very best, too.”

Drawing from her experiences, Kelley founded Wellness by Kelley, a digital platform providing comprehensive guidance, workouts, recipes, meditations, and e-courses tailored to help women achieve optimal health. The focus is on holistic approaches that consider nutrition, movement, and mindfulness as interwoven elements essential for overall well-being. The membership-based company also offers a 17-week e-course and lab reviews to help people get to the root cause of why they’re feeling less than their best in their bodies. And the business provides curated health plans tailored to each client’s individual needs, including diet plans, meditation practices, and customized experience programs.

Also central to Kelley's approach are her insights into hormonal health. She acknowledges the impact of toxic stress, insulin resistance, and endocrine disruptors on hormonal balance, and it can affect various bodily functions, from reproduction to mood regulation and overall well-being. Her strategies to enhance hormone health encompass dietary balance, regular exercise, stress reduction techniques, and, when needed, seeking medical guidance for hormone replacement therapies.

Kelley stresses the importance of movement but advocates for a mindful, stress-less balanced exercise routine rather than overexertion. She speaks from her own experience, having grappled with over-exercising and its implications on hormonal health.

Kelley, a certified health and wellness trainer and Pilates instructor, says, “Exercise is a huge stress reliever when done properly and in the right amounts. And if you actually enjoy the movement you’re doing, it can be nurturing for your body, mind, and mood. Get at least 30 minutes of some form of gentle to moderate movement every day. For example, walking, yoga, or playing with your kids coupled with about an hour of a more rigorous workout, three to four times a week, preferably including a combination of cardio, weights, and stretching is ideal.”

One of Kelley's key principles is "gentle nutrition" and intuitive eating, which involves healing one's relationship with food and focusing on how different foods make the body feel. She advocates for embracing a variety of nutrient-rich foods, preparing meals at home, and ensuring steady blood sugar levels to support overall health and hormone balance.

Addressing metabolic health, Kelley highlights its significance beyond weight management, emphasizing its role in preventing chronic diseases. She encourages a holistic approach to step into one's healthiest version, including a balanced diet with balanced blood sugar, regular physical activity, stress management, adequate sleep, prioritizing self-awareness, making lifestyle adjustments to optimize energy levels, and minimizing unhealthy habits like smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.

Kelley Nemiro's journey from health struggles to empowerment epitomizes the transformative potential of holistic lifestyle changes. Through Wellness by Kelley, she continues to empower individuals to reclaim their health, nurture their bodies, and achieve balance in their lives.

Kelley's teachings resonate beyond mere fitness routines or diet plans; they advocate for a profound mindset shift towards understanding and nurturing one's body and overall well-being. Her holistic approach serves as a guiding light, illuminating the path toward a vibrant, healthy lifestyle rooted in self-awareness, balance, and nourishment.

Within just a few weeks of making these changes, I felt an incredible difference...all this from eating whole foods, slowing down, and listening to my body and intuition.

Engaging in regular physical activity can help regulate hormones and help you maintain a healthy weight. Both aerobic and strength-training exercises are beneficial. I particularly love Pilates and Yoga because they get your heart rate up, but also are low impact and low stress on the body.
