Advice From Pediatrician Dr. Anna Huger

Chesterfield City Lifestyle Reflects With Twins-Mom And Founder Of Purely Pediatrics

WHEN CAN I EXPECT MY BABY TO SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT?

While many factors, such as prematurity and illness, can affect babies' abilities to sleep through the night, there are basic truths. In the beginning, your sweet lamb is in charge, eating and sleeping as they choose. Around four months, their circadian rhythm begins developing. By introducing a feeding schedule and allowing them to begin self-soothing, most infants can sleep 8 to 10 hours a night by four months. Usually, if we follow their cues, they will find their way.

SHOULD MY TWINS BE IN THE SAME CLASSROOM?

While it is comforting for a parent to know their child’s best friend is with them in class, it is important for children to have their own experiences and tell their own stories. Everyone thrives when they can recount their daily adventures without someone editing or correcting them. In separate classrooms, they begin their journey to becoming their own sweet person.

MOTHER’S DAY IS COMING – ANY THOUGHTS?

Every Mother’s Day, my boys help us clean the yard, plant flowers and prepare for summer (cue dutiful smiles). Then, when Father’s Day arrives, the yard’s perfect and there’s nothing to do but swim, barbeque and have fun (cue whoops of joy). What have I done?! This Mother’s Day, I vow no planting or cleaning of any kind. I can be fun, too!

Well, maybe just the window boxes…
