Fall Flavored Milkshakes

PUMPKIN AND APPLE PIE FLAVORED MILKSHAKES

I don’t know about you, but I can without a doubt say that Fall is my favorite time of the year and I am so excited that it’s finally here. From the pumpkin spice lattes and the leaves changing colors to the fall scented candles and halloween themed movies, everything about the next couple of months is extremely delightful. The food of course, is what I look forward to most! 

We all have our favorite fall dishes that we look forward to each year. Some of us can't wait to enjoy a pumpkin beer with a brown sugar rim from a brewery. Others, like myself, look forward to apple picking only to stock up on boxes of apple cider donuts and pies. Of course, we wish that these flavors were available all year round, but the fact that we have to wait all year in anticipation makes the season that much more exciting.

To continue with my idea of inventing dishes that I haven’t encountered before, I wanted to incorporate ice cream into our favorite fall flavors. The over-the-top milkshake trend will always continue to impress me, so I decided to try it myself.

Apple Pie Milkshake

Ingredients:

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • ½ cup apple pie filling 
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon caramel sauce

Toppings:

  • 1 slice apple pie 
  • whipped cream
  • graham cracker crumbs
  • caramel sauce 

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients into blender and blend until thick
  2. Coat rim of the glass with caramel sauce
  3. Cover the rim of caramel with graham cracker crumbs
  4. Drizzle caramel on the inside of the glass
  5. Fill glass with milkshake
  6. Leave ¼ inch from top to avoid overflow when toppings are placed
  7. Place the apple pie slice across the top of the glass
  8. Top the remaining exposed part of the glass with whipped cream 
  9. Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs and drizzle caramel on top of the whipped cream
  10. Enjoy!

Pumpkin Pie Milkshake

Ingredients:

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream 
  • 1 tablespoons pumpkin purée 
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla flavored syrup 
  • 1 ½ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ cup whole milk

Toppings:

  • 1 pumpkin donut
  • whipped cream
  • pumpkin pie spice

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients into blender and blend until thick
  2. Coat rim of the glass with caramel sauce
  3. Cover the rim of caramel with graham cracker crumbs
  4. Drizzle caramel on the inside of the glass
  5. Fill glass with milkshake
  6. Leave ¼ inch from top to avoid overflow when toppings are placed
  7. Cut pumpkin donut in half and place half laying across one side of the glass
  8. Top the remaining exposed part of the glass with whipped cream and sprinkle on pumpkin pie spice
  9. Enjoy!
