What comes to mind when you hear the term “Good Host?” I’m sure you think of someone or someplace that is warm, inviting, inclusive, and welcoming to all, right? How about “elevated comfort food, providing a gourmet experience that you can take with you?” Probably not, but the new service style restaurant, Scratch, is here to enhance the meaning of “good host.”

Scratch is a relatively new establishment located in the heart of Prairie Village, KS. I sat down with owner and chef Tyler Morrison, to learn more about his vision, what makes Scratch so unique, and why it is a must try for all. Here’s what he had to say.

“Our food is carry-out made to order, not to sit. Our menu is chef curated and we make everything from scratch daily, timed just right.”

The idea and goal of Scratch is centered around achieving the optimal balance between experience, value, quality and cost. Everything is built around the accommodation of the customer, not the business. Scratch always crafts foods to your wishes that will elevate your whole experience rather it’s dine-in, carry-out or catering services. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for something quick and delicious to take home, a quiet dinner date, or an elegantly catered luncheon. Scratch provides an elevated dining experience for every occasion. Their menu offers the comfort food you know and love, reimagined and perfected.

“We wanted to open customers up to new experiences and tastes without having to break the bank,” he explains. “You can grab a bite and a bottle all in one stop.”

Let me tell you about my personal experience: I have the privilege of living a few blocks away, and I’ve been able to try almost everything on their menu at the moment (the menu changes seasonally/quarterly) accompanied by amazing service and a friendly atmosphere (dogs welcome!!)  Among my favorites are their Raspberry Chipotle Black Bean Dip, The Scratch Burger and Carrot Cake (or Smoked Cheddar Mac & Cheese... or the Traditional Cobb Salad…) I think you get the idea!

Rather you're looking to host or be hosted, you can't lose with Scratch's high-quality food, atmosphere and service. From the appetizers all the way through the entrees and deserts, you can tantalize your taste buds and enjoy the neighborhood atmosphere including the fact that they are dog friendly. I will remain as loyal to Scratch as my pups are to me!
