Convenient In-Home Care for Seniors: More than 57 million adults—17.3% of the U.S. population—are 65 and older (National Council on Aging)!

With this number expected to rapidly increase, the need for handling necessary care for a senior loved one might come sooner than you think. Sure, you can send your elderly loved one to a nursing home, assisted living or even senior apartments, but if there was an option for them to stay in the comfort of their own home while being cared for, wouldn’t that be the best option? Thankfully, Age Easy Senior Care offers quality in-home senior care for clients in the San Fernando Valley, Beverly Hills, Thousand Oaks and Ventura County areas. Owner/Operator Tigran Margarian shares more about their services.

When and why was Age Easy Senior Care established?

Age Easy opened its doors in fall 2024, and the inspiration for starting the company has been very personal to me.

My mother has been battling cancer with its ups and downs over the past 4 years…the frequent chemo sessions started causing more adverse reactions that caused my mother to be nearly entirely bed-bound for days before she recovered. It was at that moment that I realized how difficult and exhausting it is to find a good, reliable caregiver. Eventually, we found a tested caregiver through word of mouth, but this was the moment I decided to do something different. Something that had care as its primary objective, something that I could recommend to my mom.

What does Age Easy specialize in?

Every part of care that does not involve medical treatment is within our capabilities. We have clients who only need help getting to places (driving to doctor’s appointments, shopping, etc.) along with light housekeeping and cooking. Meanwhile, others often need more involved support, such as bathing, toileting, grooming and feeding.

What are the benefits of home care?

I’m a big believer in the benefit of having a wider choice, and I think there are several strong reasons to choose home care.

1.      For many seniors who have spent decades building and renovating their homes, it may not be easy to accept the necessity of moving into a facility. AARP had this incredible survey in 2021, which found that over three-quarters (77%) of adults aged 50 and older want to remain in their homes as they age.

2.      Plenty of medical evidence demonstrates the importance of maintaining social connections in the context of physical health. Staying home next to neighbors, friends and, most importantly, family, literally helps extend the life expectancy of seniors.

3.      Home care offers one-on-one care that is rarely available even in the best assisted living facilities or nursing homes.

4.      Finally, there’s the matter of costs. The minimum home care hours will often be two to four times cheaper than moving into a facility.

Does insurance cover in-home senior care?

Unfortunately, home care insurance coverage is challenging. Medicare and traditional medical insurance policies don’t cover home care. Medi-Cal has waiver programs under Home and Community-Based Services (Medi-Cal HCBS Waivers). My experience shows that only Long-Term Care Insurance (LTCI) can confidently cover home care costs.
