The Messina Hof Grapevine Tasting Room and Wine Bar has been a bright spot in downtown Grapevine since 2014, but the family-owned Messina Hof Winery has been a Texas treasure for more than 40 years. We recently asked Regional General Manager Garrett Gomez to tell us more about the popular Grapevine destination.
Tell me about the Messina Hof Grapevine location.
Messina Hof Grapevine Winery is the company’s first urban winery. We opened in December of 2014 and have been a staple in the historic district of Grapevine ever since. Messina Hof was founded in 1977 and has been growing and producing award-winning Texas wines for over 40 years.
What can patrons expect when they visit Messina Hof Grapevine?
Messina Hof Grapevine, similar to all Messina Hof locations, offers wine tastings where guests can taste five of our wines and take our premium glass home with them. We also offer a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy wine by the glass and bottles to share along with our delicious appetizer menu. We have packages for Private Tours and Tastings, Private Events and Weddings, as well, in our second-floor event space.
Where are the Messina Hof vineyards?
Messina Hof has vineyards at our Estate Winery in Bryan, Texas, and at our Hill Country Winery in Fredericksburg, Texas. Come 2021, Messina Hof will also have a vineyard at our newest location - Messina Hof Harvest Green Winery & Kitchen.
How many varieties of wine are offered?
Messina Hof Winery offers over 50 different varieties across all our locations.
What are the most popular Messina Hof wines?
Guests and devoted patrons of Messina Hof love everything we offer. Because our portfolio is so diverse, we can offer a wine for each guest's taste profile. While some guests have a sweet tooth for our Tribute Series Beau and Riesling, others seek out our bolder, dry reds like Private Reserve Tempranillo, Sagrantino and the classics Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Sangiovese.
What has been the response to the Grapevine location?
While COVID-19 has challenged much of the hospitality industry, we are able to provide guests with safe purchases of our wine through our curbside and local delivery services. We have launched our Virtual Vino program, where folks can get together virtually to taste wine and receive wine education from our wine experts on-site. Currently we are open Thursday through Sunday for on-premise wine consumption while guests enjoy our food items from our appetizer menu.
