If David Allen could travel back in time and tell his high school self that in 2020 he would own and operate a successful national marketing company, his younger self would have never believed him. He believes it now!
Allen is the president and founder of Allen Media & Associates, a full circle marketing company founded in 2005 that uses a unique team approach to cover every angle of marketing and advertising. Allen Media & Associates serves the advertising needs of clients from Florida to New England, and from coast to coast with offices in Venice, Florida and South Hadley, Massachusetts.
“Allen Media is made up of a collaborative group of phenomenally talented individuals who each have their own set of specialties and insights,” says Allen. “Our focus is always on the client and what the client needs. We listen closely as a team and then we go to work to create a full circle marketing plan.”
Allen’s team includes a dozen individuals who are passionate about marketing and advertising. Services include public relations, digital marketing, SEO, SEM, email marketing, TV and radio campaigns, website design and website management. Allen Media covers all the bases and clients get whatever they need to customize their own marketing plans. Allen wants his clients to focus on running their own businesses, knowing that their advertising and marketing needs are in good hands.
Allen’s clients have included restaurants, home improvement companies, golf courses, banks, Harley-Davidson dealerships, salons, orchards, interior designers, downtown business associations and the list goes on. Local clients in the Venice area include Venice Lighting, the new Coastal Serenity Design & Lighting of Sarasota, and BrewBurgers with two locations in Venice and growing.
“Marketing is an ever-changing environment. We have to stay on top of it,” says Allen. “If I was still doing what I was doing in 2005, I would not be here. Allen Media continues to grow. We give our clients great service and excellent results. That’s why we still have many of the same original clients from 15 years ago.”
Allen was raised by two hard-working parents. In high school he was a bit of a class clown and just wanted to tell jokes and make people laugh. He really didn’t have any plans to get into advertising. That all changed when he began selling advertising space for three Massachusetts newspapers including the Holyoke Transcript, Daily Hampshire Gazette and Cape Cod Times. He credits his former manager Mark Iacuessa at the Daily Hampshire Gazette for his guidance and advice to 'work hard and work smart.' It’s a path that Allen still follows.
Allen eventually moved on to a sales and production position at LIN Television Corporation until he was hired by an Atlanta, Georgia company as a business road warrior. He traveled the country to set up corporate marketing and sales training programs. In 2005, Allen found himself at the crossroads of corporate restructuring and the need for a new direction. He decided to stay with what he loved and opened his doors as Allen Media & Associates.
“We love the team approach,” says Allen, an avid golfer who now lives in Venice with his wife Ann. “I embrace the creativity and the challenge of bringing consumer attention to our clients. I like being the force that drives the business traffic with a team that knows all the angles.”
