AmaWaterways: Making Guests Feel at Home in the World

Exploring the world aboard AmaWaterways’ most innovative river ship, AmaMagna, guests feel right at home in roomy, luxurious suites, complete with full balconies perfect for relaxing and lounging while enjoying the beautiful scenery along the renowned Danube River.

With five bars, four unique restaurants, a heated sun-deck pool and whirlpool, the AmaMagna offers guests the most luxurious river cruise ship experience.

The adventure begins by settling into a comfortable 355 to 710 sq. ft. suite—the largest suites on the river—and even larger than on some ocean cruise ships, a pleasant surprise for discerning travelers and frequent ocean cruisers who appreciate the luxury of generous personal space. Added benefits include a welcome gift with Champagne and a mobile Wi-Fi device for use ashore, ensuring guests enjoy the “suite life” aboard AmaMagna.

Mix & Mingle

Guests will delight in exploring AmaMagna’s onboard areas, including its spacious Sun Deck complete with a large heated pool and whirlpool, a walking track and a pop-up sky bar. Venturing inside the ship reveals two fireside libraries, a split-level Main Lounge and a chic onboard cinema to watch movies, sports and more.

Bon Appetit

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, enjoy four unique onboard restaurants offering trademark exquisite, locally-sourced cuisine to satisfy any palate, all of which is included in the price of your cruise. So, go ahead—indulge!

A member of La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, the exclusive international culinary society, AmaWaterways offers its Main Restaurant and The Chef’s Table specialty restaurant—the only venue of its kind on the rivers, and where the kitchen, usually hidden, becomes part of the entertainment, as well as two additional unique dining venues. Savor fresh, masterfully prepared cuisine within the new Al Fresco Restaurant, featuring retractable windows and roof, offering refreshing breezes and views of the ever-changing Danube. While at Jimmy’s, named for AmaWaterways’ beloved late Co-Founder, Jimmy Murphy, enjoy an inviting convivial family-style dining atmosphere.

Health-Conscious Cuisine

AmaWaterways incorporates healthy food choices into breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bountiful breakfasts include omelets made-to-order using cage-free eggs; lunch tempts with an array of salads using locally-sourced seasonal ingredients; and dinner offers a range of delicious entrees, including fresh fish and sustainably raised meat. Delicious low-sodium, vegetarian and gluten-free choices are equally enticing and flavorful.

Body, Mind & Spirit

AmaWaterways makes it a top priority to ensure guests have every opportunity to enhance their best selves while cruising the world’s rivers. Whether maintaining an active lifestyle or jumpstarting a healthy new routine, nourishing mind, body and spirit is a breeze both on board and ashore.

While on board, take an outdoor spin class in view of the Danube River’s breathtaking scenery, work out on the contemporary fitness equipment facing the studio’s floor-to-ceiling walls or simply sip hydrating citrus-infused water. AmaMagna’s expansive Zen Wellness Studio also offers two massage rooms and a juice bar with fresh-squeezed juices and smoothies in the morning. Guests can also make an appointment at the ship’s hair salon or enjoy a manicure and pedicure.

Welcoming Crew

While enjoying the luxurious offerings aboard the AmaMagna, guests are sure to appreciate the warm and welcoming crew members, who always go above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience.

“When we founded AmaWaterways, it was important to us that our in-house staff and onboard crew felt like part of our family, because their happiness and well-being are reflected in how they treat our guests,” says AmaWaterways’ Co-Founder and Executive Vice President, Kristen Karst.

AmaWaterways also offers professionally trainedWellness Hosts on board the Europe and Mekong River cruises that lead up to five different wellness activities daily. Classes may include yoga, Pilates, core strengthening, cardio, active wellness walks and even Latin dancing. The various excursions include a number of guided bike and hiking tours. Vietnam and Cambodia’s Mekong River cruises offer regionally-inspired wellness activities, such as a traditional tea ceremony, yoga, qigong or meditation.

Exclusive Itinerary

AmaMagna’s truly extraordinary river cruises include unique itineraries, such as Magna on the Danube, a new 7-night itinerary from Budapest, Hungary to Vilshofen, Germany, available from March through December during its 2020/2021 seasons. Personally curated by Co-Founder and President Rudi Schreiner, this distinctive sailing adventure includes daytime scenic cruising through the Danube Bend, a magnificent stretch with a dramatic turn between rocky hills in Dunakanyar, Hungary. There’s no better way to enjoy the awe-inspiring scenery than from the comfort of one of AmaMagna’s full-balcony suites.

Vienna’s Baroque Splendors

In addition, Magna on the Danube offers both returning AmaWaterways guests and those new to the Danube River an in-depth glimpse into Vienna’s Baroque splendors with an included excursion to the royal Habsburgs’ Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens. Built in the 18th century as an imperial summer residence, this magnificent 1,441-room Baroque palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural and historical monuments in Austria. View the living quarters of the emperors, which still contain their original furnishings, as well as a collection of carriages used by the imperial family and Viennese court. Plus, tour the equally impressive gardens, built around an artesian well from which the palace draws its name (Schönbrunn = “beautiful spring”). This attractive outdoor space encompasses a variety of botanical specimens, sculptures of deities and virtues, a maze, an arboretum and even a small zoo popular with local families.

Special Included Experience in Spitz

While in Austria, enjoy an exclusive evening wine experience in Spitz, an Old-World town discovering new life through the eyes of its guests. Sidled up against the north bank of the Danube River, Spitz is one of the loveliest winemaking villages in Austria’s UNESCO-designated Wachau Valley. In fact, the town was built around a hill so abundant with grapes it is known as the “Thousand Bucket Hill.” While there, be guided to the historic Klosterhof, the former wine press house of St. Gottweig Abbey. Dating back to the 12th century, this atmospheric Wachau Valley estate hosts an intimate wine tasting of the region’s famous Grüner Veltliner and Riesling wines.

Additional Itineraries

AmaMagna also sails AmaWaterways’ Gems of Southeast Europe cruise through Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania on the lower portion of the Danube River. Or indulge in a longer journey, a 14-night Grand Danube sailing between Vilshofen, Germany and Giurgiu, Romania that includes both the upper and lower portions of the Danube River. And, perfect for families, experience Europe’s timeless traditions while celebrating the most festive time of year aboard AmaMagna on its Christmas Markets on the Danube cruise through Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary.
