Anda Spa Takes Wellness to a New Level

Anda Spa is not your ordinary luxury wellness spa.

The new spa and fitness club took over what had previously been the Ivy Spa Club back in December 2018, part of Hotel Ivy, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Minneapolis. The owners decided to completely renovate the place, investing more than three million dollars into a floor-to-ceiling rebrand, said LeAnne Erickson, Anda Spa’s Director.

What had previously been a respected but traditional spa has become a truly unique holistic healing haven. Many services involve some sort of crystal healing, whether you’re getting a Gemstone Rebalancing Facial, a rose quartz-infused bath soak or a Himalayan Salt Stone Massage. When guests arrive, they can expect to see in the welcome area a 68-pound rose quartz crystal, sourced from Madagascar. In what’s called the Quartz Spa, people can enjoy a private whirlpool experience, among other features including a Crystal Sauna which is flanked by Cambria’s Golden Dragon stone.  The spa also features an Aura Lounge which is designed as a deep relaxation room or mediation space, ideally used post-treatment.  Guests can even sip crystal-infused water called a Gem Elixir or some Minneapolis-brewed Northstar Kombucha.

Much like a yoga class, every service involves welcome and closing rituals, as well as setting intentions for the service so someone can get the most out of their time at Anda Spa. That’s why a lot of their services are actually called rituals, Erickson explained. These services are perfect for anyone wanting to reduce stress, relax or aid in improving their overall health and well-being.

“It is more about a journey,” she said.

The integration of rose quartz into Anda Spa’s offerings is particularly meaningful, Erickson said, because the stone’s properties are often used to promote love and healing. In this context, a trip to Anda Spa means getting an infusion of self-love and self-care. Even the word Anda means “spirit” in Swedish, so what you get here is something for your whole self, including your deepest essence — or spirit.

To design Anda Spa’s space, the owners worked with architect and design firm, ESG, and natural stone provider, Cambria, both Minneapolis based.  Additionally, fashion stylist-turned-shamanic energy practitioner, Colleen McCann from StyleRituals, who has been featured in Vogue and Goop, performed an energy cleansing ritual in the space, including burying crystals throughout the foundation during Anda Spa’s construction phase.  When guests have an experience at Anda Spa, they can expect an expertly-crafted space that was designed for healing and rejuvenation at the deepest level possible.

“It really aligns with who we are, that abundance of love and balancing the mind, body and spirit,” Erickson said.

The spa also features a cafe as well as a fitness center, creating a total mind-body-spirit experience.

Director of Fitness, Cyrus Lemon, says the fitness center offers many unique features, including personal training and monthly memberships, which come with complimentary valet parking and access to the spa facilities. The center also features brand-new Technogym equipment, Olympic-style platforms, rowers, skiers and indoor exercise bikes, including a Peloton bike.

The fitness center also features two studio rooms. One is larger and offers regular yoga classes, Lemon said. Another is smaller and is ideal for smaller groups, individual sessions or for rent.

The spa, fitness center and cafe opened in the summer of 2019.

“We really just want people to know that we are here and take the time to enhance their well-being,” Lemon said.
