Angel Harris is a bright and ambitious teen in South Fulton who is on her way to doing big things in the world, thanks to her determined and meticulous attitude. The Tri-Cities high school senior has been awarded an impressive $1.5 million in scholarships to support her scholastic future. Harris says she had considered becoming a lawyer or joining the military but participating in the Healthcare Science Career Pathway in the Georgia education system helped solidify her interest in biology. Now she knows for sure that she wants to be a neurosurgeon and develop cures for diseases. Harris has been preparing for higher education since 10th grade. She participated in a program that helped her learn how to strategically search available scholarships and submit applications. She says she loves the competitive nature of applying for scholarships. Harris also appreciated interacting with other students who had different career interests. She started applying during her junior year for fun in her free time. Harris says she has made short- and long-term goals, not dreams. Her high aptitude is evident to recruiters and college boards, as she’s been accepted into 18 of the 52 colleges to which she’s applied! The South Fulton community is extremely proud of this remarkable young lady. She also speaks highly of her town, noting that she appreciates the camaraderie that results from living in a close-knit community where many people know and care for each other. “It’s unlike any other place in the metro Atlanta area,” Harris adds.
