As with produce, one can get any flower at any time of year. But the fabulous local flowers that blossom in the waning months of summer are ideal for stunning and surprisingly colorful arrangements.
We asked Blossom + Stem founder Michele Sinacore for fall flora advice, including arrangements and table settings.
Top Seasonal Transitional Tablescapes:
We get many requests for a clean, neutral palette that looks beautiful against any fall color. Pair a flax linen with white florals and your favorite cutlery for a gorgeous pop of bright white without speaking too seasonal.
Want to add some glitz? Pair a gold charger and gold flatware and you have instant, unfussy glam.
Bring in the Fall, Make It Subtle:
No one is suggesting you gourd up your table garland-style (editor’s note: Please. No.), but sneaking some hints of fall into your ‘scape is a great way to welcome the season. September brings us beautiful stems of wheat, a variety of sunflowers, and even antiqued and dried hydrangea. All of these goodies can be paired with fresh flowers and almost any color linen.
Dry Pairings:
We sell a lot of dried flowers at Blossom + Stem and more clients are opting for these long-lasting arrangements. Consider an eye-catching piece for your island or foyer, which we can design in your own vases.
Or top your table with an arrangement that includes hints of dried flowers to compliment a statement piece. We love this look!
Jewel Tones:
Aubergines, maroons, deep oranges. Fall is the time to bring ‘em out. Jewel tones can be casual or they can be super sophisticated, plus they mix well with light colors.
Want a rich luxe look? Stick to one color palette and pop it with some candlelight and contrasting linens. Pair a sage linen with vases of deep purple florals for an instant Wow factor, or a maroon linen with maroon florals.
Bud Vases and Cutting Garden Goods:
We see a lot of great gardeners in our area. What better way to show off your bounty than with your own blossoms!
Our design team works with many clients who compliment the larger arrangements we design with bud vases of their own floral finds. Great fall cutting flowers include dahlias, zinnias, and sunflowers.
High, low, wide, narrow, bud vases are a no-miss no-fuss way to floral up your table. Layer them up or embed them in strands of greens. Throw in some candles and you’ve got a professional looking ‘scape!
