Q- What kind of dirt and buildup is common for carpets in Southwest Florida, and what’s your advice on dealing with them at home.
A-Typically, dirt and oil residue build up on your carpet – especially in areas that see a lot of foot traffic. The best way to stay on top of it is to vacuum on a regular basis. In general, regular care is necessary to maintain the appearance and wear life of your carpet. That includes routine vacuuming, responding quickly to spills and stains, and scheduling professional cleaning services on a regular basis.
Q- I think I may have mold in my carpets. How do I find out, and what can I do about it?
A-Mold can be an issue in Florida because of the humidity, but it’s rarely visible to the naked eye. It can be caused by water damage, moisture, oxygen, food sources, and odor combined. Wall to wall carpet and area rugs can be a breeding ground, and organic carpet fibers, such as wool, are more prone to attract mold. If you think you have moldy carpets you will need the services of professional carpet cleaners, or maybe even mold specialists. However, mold prevention is possible by doing the following: keep your carpet clean, keep your home cool to reduce humidity, and use synthetic carpet material.
Q-What can I do about scratches and scuffs in my hardwood floors?
A- Anyone with hardwood floors is probably familiar with scratches and scuffs. Visible marks on your hardwood floors can be caused by all kinds of things such as shoes, moving furniture, drops, pet claws, etc. If these marks are left untreated for too long, it can leave your hardwood floors exposed and lead to future deterioration. - Move furniture: Only move furniture in areas you want cleaned. Otherwise, we will clean around the furniture.
- Tell us about special requests: Make a list of areas that need extra attention.
