Since purchasing her home ten years ago, Karyn has been unhappy with the kitchen, dreaming of a large island where her family could cook together and entertain. Her daughter is a senior in high school and son is at college, so holidays and family time are precious.
She met Shane and Umar, the owners of Georgia Cabinet Co and they formed a friendship, redesigning the kitchen together for an updated look, new island and amenities that make cooking a joy.
“I love the large island and the light granite we chose, but I also now have a huge lazy susan inside the bottom corner cabinet, which opened up a lot more storage space,” says Karyn. “Shane recommended this feature along with adding storage cabinets on the front side of the island.”
“Karyn’s kitchen is an excellent mix of contemporary, versatility and elegance. We chose the widely popular White Shaker cabinets to brighten and make the room appear larger,” says Omar, who opened the Georgia Cabinet Co in 2013.
Since Karyn loves to cook, Omar chose granite which is very heat, stain and crack resistant, making it a frontrunner for this kitchen. A slated gray subway contrasts with the bright cabinets and counter tops. They chose stainless steel tubular pulls for contrast against the bright white cabinets. “The White Shaker cabinets are extremely versatile and can be paired with both warm and cool tones. Everything in Karyn’s kitchen was strategically paired together for style and functionality,” says Omar.
Here are a few trends the team at Georgia Cabinet Co are seeing for 2020.
Quartz Counter Tops: Unlike granite, quartz counter tops are man-made and the fourth hardest stone in existence. It has the ability to mimic the beautiful Carrara marble look, but is tougher than both marble and granite. Quartz has also become popular recently due to the unnecessary long-term upkeep like natural stones.
Two-toned kitchens: A bold and attractive new trend typically composed of the base cabinets as one color and the wall cabinets as a different color. These kitchens are fun and diverse, composed with many tones and colors, allowing the eye to enjoy the entire room.
Large and practical sinks: Functionality is important for kitchens, and specifically sinks. Typically crafted of ceramic, porcelain or stainless steel, farmhouse sinks have become increasingly popular due to the ability to accommodate large pots, pans, plates and platters, while also easing the ability to hand wash everything in one location.
