Estilo is a contemporary women’s and men’s clothing boutique located in the heart of central Austin. They carry clothing, shoes, and accessories for women and men.  It is a one stop shop because you can find any outfit or accessory for any occasion.

Esitlo’s staff is reputable for assisting clients in finding the perfect pieces for themselves or a loved one. Whether it be a special occasion in need of a killer outfit, a fab, modish gift for another, or a new hip outfit for a day out in the town, Estilo carries all the latest fashion trends that will satisfy your inner fashionista!

Austin Life caught up with Estilo owner, Stephanie Coultress, to learn what she has in store for the Iconic, award-winning boutique and all it’s allure for year 2021 as well as her most memorable moments during one of history’s most shocking and uncertain times. We also wanted to take Stephanie back in time and learn how Estilo first began as well as acknowledge her persistent, bold ideas and efforts that birthed her legacy.

When was Estilo first established and how did the idea of Estilo Men come into play?

When I started Estilo in 2005 in downtown Austin, I carried women’s and men’s clothing.  When we relocated Estilo to Casis Village in 2015, I refocused the brand to only women’s apparel, shoes, jewelry, and accessories.  Because of the continued demand and a curated men’s collection, I opened Estilo Men at the end of 2019.

What has been your best accomplishment this year?

Resilience.  2020 has been quite the challenge and brought many new scenarios. I have continued to focus on finding solutions, not just dwelling on the problems. The 2008 recession taught me how to pivot and work hard for something you believe in through unforeseen circumstances.  Harnessing that passion and taking control of what I can in these circumstances has allowed me to sustain during these difficult times.

Why do you think that Estilo thrived during a time such as covid when other local businesses were forced to shut down?

I reflected on my experience in 2008, my customers' needs, and what I could change because of pandemic-related restrictions.  I quickly accelerated the Stylebox concept and started curating and delivering packages to customer’s homes.  We built a native mobile app (“Estilo Boutique”) to connect with customer through push notifications and create an easier mobile user experience.

What are you most thankful for from the community of Austin and why?

Austin is the most supportive city for local businesses.  People here truly want to see you succeed and promote individualism and creativity.  It continues to be a thriving, progressive city while maintaining their 'small town' personality.

Why do you enjoy being a local business owner in Austin?

My family moved to Austin when I was in high school and I attended the University of Texas where I earned my undergraduate and master’s degrees in psychology. As a child and family therapist and now a retailer, I’ve continued to focus on serving the Austin community.  Thankfully, Austin continues to be a national attraction as more families and businesses relocate to our city.

What can your customers expect when shopping at Estilo?

Curated clothing, convenience, and customer service are equally important to my business.  For women, I wanted it to feel like you were shopping in your best friends’ closet.  For men, I want the experience to be quick and easy to shop.  Over the past 15 years, our customers know that we will continue to carry relevant handpick brands and products, that we will have knowledgeable stylists, and that we will provide convenience through in-store shopping, home delivery, curbside pickup, and online/mobile shopping.

What does Estilo’s staff and brand offer customers?

Our staff offer customers perspectives, advice, and conversation.  I want customers to feel welcome and comfortable in our store.  We love when a customer comes in and wants us to style them from head to toe for an event.

What can you expect for Estilo’s endeavor’s and brand for 2021?

We are always brainstorming how to do what we do better.  We love styling women and now we can style men too.  We’re cooking up a few new ideas and concepts.  Stay tuned!

What is Estilo’s involvement with charities?

As a former therapist, I have always wanted to make a lasting and meaningful impact in peoples lives.  When I changed career directions and pursed my love for fashion, I knew that I want to find philanthropic opportunities with my business.  I continue to donate to local charity events and as the pandemic passes, I look forward to once again hosting in-store charitable fundraising and awareness events.

Is Estilo doing anything special for Christmas?

We encourage our customers to start their wish lists.  One of the best parts of being a local business is that we know each client well are very helping in providing suggestions for gifts.  And remember we can gift wrap too!
