Founded in 1990 by visionary hairstylist Josh Martin, Bella Salon has reputably established itself in the Sixth Street West arts district for more than 25 years. When Bella first opened, the concept of a salon, spa and boutique all-in-one was the first of its kind in Austin. Josh built out a beautiful space, recruited the top stylists, estheticians and nail technicians in the city (a few of whom still remain!), and the salon quickly became a destination for the “who’s who” in Texas and also visiting Hollywood celebrities. Josh’s philosophy was “love all; serve all,” and that mantra still guides Bella today!

Business owner David Roussy acquired Bella Salon one year ago with the vision in mind of keeping its historical roots intact while optimizing the customer experience as its fundamental differentiator among the rest. He shared a significant childhood memory of being very close to his grandfather who owned the general store in a small rural town in Canada where he got to see first-hand how a business can create a sense of community for its customers, which is something he upholds today within the Bella community.

Bella's quality services include a boutique, nail salon, spa, hair salon and Bella facial. Their renowned team is committed to excellence and was recognized by Salon Today as one of America’s top 200 salons in 2019. The Bella team is exceptional, talented, dedicated and totally driven to deliver an outstanding client experience each and every time. 

Bella uses the leading beauty brands in the industry: Wella, Oribe, Kevin Murphy, Deva Curl and Cosmedix. The brands share industry best-practices with them and train Bella’s team.

Client feedback is very important to Bella. They follow up with hundreds of clients each month to track their performance and ensure they are doing everything to be the best they can be. David expresses that the Bella team is the heart and soul of the business. They are talented, passionate, committed to learning and want to make everyone feel at home in the salon.

David feels that Generation X and baby boomers are willing to spend to look good and remain youthful while the younger Generation Z and millennials follow a more experience-oriented approach, which helps customize the clientele experience overall—one client at a time. 

Bella also is proud to partner with the organization SAFE Alliance. They do tremendous work serving survivors of child abuse, sexual assault, trafficking and domestic violence.

David takes the time to recognize Bella's amazing general manager, Kaylee, who manages the day-to-day operations. Kaylee has done everything in the industry including owning her own salon. Ownership of the salon is a family affair, and Jill, who is an entrepreneur in her own right, would step in if anything ever happened to the current owner, David. Also to be recognized is Ann Attal, owner of Austin Galleries and long-time client, who partners with Bella to provide the exquisite art in the salon. The art is an absolute must-see.

Bella understands that the beauty industry is always evolving and will continuously adapt to new trends in services and products to ensure they meet the wants and needs of their loyal clients.
