If an area has cracked concrete, the coating mends the cracks to create a smooth, homogeneous surface. On a pool deck, the problem is that you are walking on hot concrete. Our process and products will cool that surface down while adding aesthetic appeal.”
When it comes to colors and designs, the coatings can be as unique and colorful as the home or business owner wants and can include company, school, or sports team logos as well as custom colors. “One of the biggest trends we’re seeing is people want to do something to modify their space and add their personality to it,” says Robert. “If you want your space to sport your favorite team’s colors, we can do that. If it is a pool deck, we can come up with a custom color based on the color of the pool lining and bricks. If we end up creating a completely new color, we name it after our client.”
Adjusting the color and size of the flakes in the epoxy or polyaspartic changes its appearance, but some clients want something completely different. “We had a client who built a pole barn home and instead of using flakes in the epoxy, he wanted a marble-looking finish to the surface,” shares Robert. “We were able to get into the building before it was furnished and create that marble look for him throughout the entire home.”
Encapsulating a logo is especially helpful for businesses and schools who want to add a special touch to their offices and buildings. “For Hyatt House in downtown Augusta, we put their logo under the clear coat,” explains Director of Operations Quentin Fisher. “It is not like a sticker on top that could peel, get muddy, or fall apart. This is embedded in the coating and it is something that distinguishes them from other places.”
Concrete coatings work well in large commercial and industrial spaces as well. Quentin says working at the Helios Equine Performance & Rehabilitation Center is one of his favorite projects. “It is a large space, something around 10,000 square feet, and what made it unique was that we got to design something not really meant for humans,” he explains. “The space is used for horse rehabilitation, so we had to meet certain criteria for the horses. It was really fun to go and work on that space.”
