Hello everyone,
It's Manhattan Girl here!
Today I bring you a list of 11 newborn essentials for first time moms. As you may know, my baby Lucca is almost three months by now which means I have a pretty good sense of what is and what is not essential for us. I am definitely not an expert, and sometimes what works best for me might not work for you, I am just trying to help with some tips that I hope can be useful for you too, new mama!
Here is a list of 11 items that I use daily (or every other day) that I think every new mom should have:
1. UllenBoom Baby Lounger
This item is definitely the one that I end up using the most. Everyday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., my baby and I usually stay in the living room where his lounger is used for napping throughout the day. The baby lounger is essential for him; it's very comfortable and he loves to stay there. I must admit that most nights I also bring the lounger to my bedroom and place it on top of his bedside sleeper. By the way, this brand's baby lounger is very affordable.
2. Avent Bottle Warmer
This item I use every feeding, which happens every two to three hours taking about six mins to warm his formula up. My baby gets very fussy when he's hungry so warming the bottle in a fast manner is of extreme importance to me. I know it's not necessary to warm the formula up but I've noticed a significant increase in spitting up when the formula is cold. Every baby is different, so you should keep an eye on yours to see what is his/her preference.
3. Tommee Tippee Electric Steam Sterilizer
Babies need to have their bottles and pacifiers frequently sterilized. There are many types available out there, ones that are placed inside the microwave, others inside the dishwasher and like mine, electric. You just need to add 60 ml of water and in a few minutes everything will be cleaned, sterilized and ready to use.
4. Nose Frieda Nasal Aspirator
I've bought an electric nasal aspirator before buying this one. It was very innefective and my baby had some difficulty breathing most nights. After reading several reviews about Nose Frieda, I decided to give it a try. It was the best decision ever!
5. Electric Nail Trimmer
I was always afraid of trimming my baby's nails and ending up hurting him. With this tool, trimming his nails became the easiest thing ever. I definitely recommend it.
6. Skip Hop Moonlight & Melodies - Nightlight Baby Sleep Soother (Owl)
During Lucca's first weeks of life, white noise was my go-to sound. Playing white noise to him made him fall asleep very quickly and easily. It also plays lullabies and nature sounds, so I tend to switch back and forth. He loves it.
7. Skip Hop Changing Pad
Having a newborn at home means you'll barely have time to do household chores. Many changing pads are hard to clean and get dirty very often, so I knew I had to buy one that would make my life easier. This one is waterproof, wipeable and it doesn't need changing pad covers.
8. Pure Enrichment Humidifier & Essential Oil Diffuser
Your baby's breathing is benefited by having a humidifier. It is not only a humidifier but also an essential oil diffuser. I do think it has a reasonable price compared to other humidifiers out there.
9. Baby Delight Bedside Sleeper & Bassinet
This item is a MUST. Young babies tend to wake up many times in the middle of the night. Having your baby right next to you is the best option for you and your baby. If he cries you’ll hear him in seconds, and whenever he needs you, you’ll be right there for him.
10. Forehead Thermometer
As I mentioned previously, I like to have practical and easy-to-use things. The forehead thermometer is super simple because it reads his temperature in seconds. I compared it with a regular thermometer and it’s very accurate. Trust me, it will make your life easier.
11. Lille Baby Carrier
After months of research, I finally found the perfect baby carrier. It is ergonomic, which means it’s completely safe for your baby’s hips and development. It is super easy to put on and most of the time he falls asleep right away.
I hope my tips end up being useful to you and your baby.
Happy Mothers' Day!
