Baking with Love

Why Owner of Delight Baking Co. Niki Baron Should Be Your Go-To

“The first time I kind of sat on the counter and helped my mom bake,” is how Niki Baron recalls the beginning of her baking career. From the time she was young, Baron would help her mom whip up some yummy treats in favor of the holidays. “We would always do fun little sugar cookies. Decorating was always my favorite part. I’ve most definitely improved over the years,” jokes Baron.

Also inspired by the Black women of America, Baron has always felt at home in the kitchen. “Kitchens were the first integrated spaces in the United States and in the South. White and Black people had to work together to get things done,” Baron says. “Most of the food we eat is a blend of different cultures coming together, and that informed what is American cooking today. Just to be another part of that lineage is amazing, and it makes me feel like I’m just another tiny link in that incredible chain.”

Now, all grown up and a self-taught baker, Baron has made what was once a hobby into a profession. Being studious in art and design (as well as a perfectionist) has allowed Baron to set herself apart with her attention to detail and her drive to value quality work. To Baron, baking is a way to show her fervor and commitment to giving her customers that same excitement she experienced as a kid. At Delight Baking Co., the popular saying, “baking with love” is quite evident.
