The holiday season is right around the corner, so it’s time to get the guest room up to five stars. Over the years, there are a few prepping tasks I always do before I host to make an enjoyable stay for out-of-towners.
1.
Time to make that extra room user-friendly and somewhat cozy. Check that outlets are easily accessible for phone chargers and make sure there is an open spot for suitcases to park. I like to put the linens somewhere they can find easily, or I even set a fresh set out for their arrival.
2.
Stock up on extras. Keep a few essentials stocked, such as a toothbrush, shampoo or a razor, so guests aren't in a pinch if they forget something. I also make sure there are some welcoming luxuries, such as nice lotion and a cozy blanket, in plain sight for them to enjoy.
3.
Go the extra mile for the guests who traveled far. Shopping around for some local St. Louis goodies is a fun way to welcome guests and thank them for taking the time to pay a visit. Or, add fresh flowers to the room, or fresh eucalyptus to the shower for a hotel feel.
