Artist Statement
For the past six years, my artistic practice has been deeply rooted in photography, a medium that serves as a text for exploring and documenting the American experience through the act of bearing witness. I see my bodies of work—created with film and digital full-frame cameras—as grounded in compassion, dignity, and love for humanity and the planet. Each project is built on collaborative relationships with my subjects, supported by curiosity and joy and devoid of judgment.
My experience as a first-generation American, navigating questions of belonging and identity, directly informs my desire to explore the soul of our nation—found in its animals, architecture, landscapes, and people. My work serves as a starting point, sparking broader conversations that deepen connection and understanding in a time of increasing polarization.
