Feller & Bloxham Medical Hair Restoration Institution Expert Explains How To Get Sustained Results

Whether addressing receding hairlines, thinning crowns or overall hair density concerns, Hair Transplant Clinic St. Louis experts assist through advanced hair transplant techniques to provide lasting results. Located at 2821 N. Ballas Road, Ste. C-64, this Feller & Bloxham-led team vows to provide the best possible hair restoration experiences. Here, Blake Bloxham, MD, managing partner and surgical director of Feller & Bloxham Medical, PC, shares important answers about hair transformations. He graduated from Andrew Taylor Still University and completed his postgraduate training at Geisinger Medical Center, including a preceptorship fellowship in hair transplant surgery with scalp surgeon Alan Feller at Feller Medical, PC in New York. The two doctors then opened Feller and Bloxham Hair Transplantation, PC.

WHY CHOOSE HAIR REPLACEMENT?

"Patients seeking hair restoration aren’t looking to feel younger, they want to reclaim their identities. They look in mirrors and see an entirely unrecognizable person. We help restore 'who' patients were before hair loss, so they feel like themselves again. Surgical hair restoration is natural, less invasive and more convenient. And we're always working toward new treatments."

HOW DO YOU ADDRESS PSYCHOLOGICAL IMPACTS OF HAIR LOSS?

"After 11 years of doing patient consultations, I’ve become 'tuned in' to areas of life affected by hair loss. While treatment can truly transform someone both inside and out, it’s not a miracle cure for relationships or work problems. Hair restoration can provide more self-confidence that may enable patients to better deal with other challenges. However, realities need to be clearly and honestly explained to patients before undergoing treatment. I may be the first doctor they've admitted these problems to, and I may help by just listening or referring to specialists who can help further."

YOU WERE INSTRUMENTAL IN MODIFIED FOLLICULAR UNIT TRANSPLANTATION TECHNIQUE. HOW DO LATEST METHODS HELP WITH DEPENDABLE, POSITIVE RESULTS?

"Hair science is fascinating, and hair loss presents unique, challenging problems. I’ve always tried to be innovative and to create better solutions. Integrating new ideas, while still utilizing proven methods, creates best patient outcomes. It’s also important to collaborate with colleagues to turn new ideas and methods into better and better results."

WHAT'S COVERED IN PATIENT CONSULTATIONS?

"Whatever patients need. Some come with thorough knowledge of what we do and how it might work for them; others come with no formal diagnosis and little knowledge about today’s hair restoration options. Every patient undergoes a thorough medical, surgical and hair loss history, with good scalp evaluation/diagnosis, but anything goes after that! Some patients ask a few questions and book a procedure; others gather information to consider. It's all OK."

DO HAIR TRANSPLANTS LAST A LIFETIME?

"Yes! Hair transplants are permanent if done properly on the right patient. The hair we use as donor comes from an area of scalp that's highly resistant or immune to falling out. When we transplant it to the bald or thinning areas, it retains this immunity and stays permanently."
