Birdies, Books, and Big Impact

The Community Tees Up to Raise Funds for the New Dripping Springs Community Library

The second annual Birdies & Books Golf Tournament delivered a winning day at Plum Creek Golf Course on March 30.

Presented by Dripping Springs City Lifestyle magazine and made possible by an incredible group of sponsors—including SouthStar Bank, SpawGlass, Deep Eddy Vodka Tasting Room, Frost, and MPOWER—along with many other generous supporters, the tournament brought the community together for a meaningful cause.

More than 120 golfers teed off in support of the Dripping Springs Community Library (DSCL), raising an impressive $51,000 in proceeds toward the library’s expansion.

“Thanks to the support of our sponsors, golfers, and volunteers, our second Birdies & Books Golf Tournament was a great success,” says Mindy Laird, DSCL executive director. “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who came out to play, connect, and support our new library.”

The morning began with breakfast from Ranches At and plenty of energy as golfers mingled with sponsors, explored interactive booths, and eyed an exciting lineup of raffle prizes. After 18 holes, players gathered for a well-deserved lunch from Chick-fil-A Belterra while celebrating tournament and raffle winners.

Organizers credit the day’s success to the enthusiasm and generosity of the entire community, from dedicated sponsors and volunteers to the golfers who showed up ready to have fun and support a great cause.

With momentum building, plans for the new library continue to move forward, fueled by strong community support. In fact, the library was recently voted “Nonprofit of the Year” at the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce Star Awards. “These ongoing fundraising efforts not only sustain the dynamic resources and programming our patrons enjoy today, but also lay a strong foundation for the future as we prepare to open the doors to our new building,” says Laird.

Humble Beginnings, Bold Vision

The Dripping Springs Community Library began 40 years ago in a single classroom at Dripping Springs High School. As community demand grew, residents rallied together to fund and build the current library, which opened in 1998. Today, the library is entering a new chapter with a capital campaign to create a larger, more robust facility designed to serve as a true community hub. The vision is a dynamic space that supports lifelong learning for all ages, from toddlers to seniors.
