To some people, the New Year is a fresh break from unhealthy habits. For others, it's easier to not drink at all than it is to try and control their drinking. The clarity received from sober living is undeniably better than any buzz ever had. It's no surprise American society struggles with moderation, and alcohol is no different. Holidays can be a big drinking trigger, but be aware of the false advertising created. You don't have to lose your job or wait for the wheels to fall off to have a drinking "problem" or even want to take a break. There are recipes for mocktails that mirror both modern and classic libations: Try (and share!) this sweet drink that bites back to quiet any qualms about your decision to stay sober.

"Since the ginger beer is better, this drink is on the savory side. The lime shrub brings out more of the lime essence and depth due to the distilling process with vinegar. If the lime shrubbery isn't possible, then lime juice will do just as fine because the acidity helps cut the ginger beer. The simple syrup lifts well and infuses throughout the ice. The bitters on top is what gives it the atmosphere of a cocktail and resonates with the person who wants more than a simple soda." - Ashley Ardizoni
