Blazing a Trail in Business

Three businesses lead Fort Worth into the future with their innovative, new practices.

Fort Worth Businesses are restyling the wheel and it’s about time you hear about it. Fueled by passion, local business owners and entrepreneurs are reshaping their industry’s standards, all to the consumer’s benefit. Whether it’s a new product that will revolutionize the field or an attitude toward customer service that seems lost in today’s world, you can bet that these individuals are working on it.

Evan Perkins - Owner and Orthodontist at Perkins Orthodontics

1. What's something innovative/unique about your business?

We are the sole provider of Inbrace in Fort Worth. Inbrace is braces on the inside of the teeth - which are more esthetic than clear aligners.

2. How does your work tie into your passions in life?

My passions in life are: God, my family, and orthodontics. I have known I wanted to be an orthodontist since I was 11 years old and I strive to treat my patients with the utmost respect and care. I have always had a passion for wanting to help people and what better way than to bring confidence to someone's life by giving them an awesome new smile!

3. What can a client expect by working with you?

We treat everyone in our office like family and we strive to provide our patients with individualized treatment that best fits their unique needs and goals.

4. What is your favorite thing about doing business in Fort Worth?

I love the people and community of Fort Worth. Authenticity in relationships is very important to me and I love being able to get to know my patients. At Perkins orthodontics we strive to be the best part of peoples days when they come to see us but they equally provide that joy to our office. The Fort Worth community is so supportive and I couldn't ask to practice in a better city.

Melissa Calderelli - Owner of Sound Waves Mindful Meditation

1. What's something innovative/unique about your business?

Even though we offer Halotherapy for respiratory and skin health; infrared saunas for muscles, joints, detoxification, and salt massage; what is really unique about Sound Waves Mindful Meditation is the vibroacoustic therapy bed. Vibroacoustic therapy provides healing through the incorporation of Therapeutic music, biofeedback, guided imagery, and vibroacoustic massage.

Although Vibroacoustic therapy has been around since the 80s, this particular bed has been used only by the medical community; we are the first to offer it to the public.

2. How does your work tie into your passions in life?

I started this business because I have had friends and family members who have suffered from depression, and I struggled with anxiety and panic attacks in my early 20s. I was prescribed medication; I didn't feel that it helped (in fact, made it worse), so that's when I started meditating; I am blessed that I have the opportunity to share our offerings with those who are stressed before they get to the point of needing medication. It is essential to be proactive rather than reactive when it comes to our health.

3. What can a client expect by working with you?

Clients start with a complimentary consultation to listen and understand their needs. Once they have decided on the service, we practice breathing techniques; clients will walk away with a few tools to help maintain and stay centered. Of course, some Clients may choose not to meditate, but that's fine too. Regardless of the reason, our clients can expect to leave calm and relaxed.

4. What is your favorite thing about doing business in Fort Worth?

The people, of course! When looking at spaces and talking to surrounding businesses, we met so many lovely people that had wonderful things to say about their clients that we just felt this would be the perfect place to be. Since then, people have come in to say, “hi” and wish us the best.

Andrew Bradfield- Owner of Bradfield Designs

1) What's something innovative/unique about your business?

One unique thing Bradfield Designs does is take wood that would otherwise be thrown away, left to rot, or used for firewood, and turn it into a beautiful piece of furniture, art, bowl or cutting board.

2) How does your work tie into your passions in life?

I love cycling and as I ride my bike I often find trees that have been cut down and ready for me to rescue.

3) What can a client expect by working with you?

The best part about custom furniture is getting exactly what you want. If you want a console table that is 103 inches long and 36 inches tall, that is what you get. And knowing that your piece is handmade with no other duplicate like it in the world.

4) What is your favorite thing about doing business in Fort Worth?

Fort Worth is renowned for its support of small, local artists and businesses; we all support each other. And the people. Lots of nice people.
