Blind Ambition Offers Fashion and Function

The Technology is What Intrigued Pam Sikes to Buy the Company

Pam Sikes, the owner of Blind Ambition and a past website designer, says it is the technical aspect of home automation that intrigues her about the industry.

“The voice-activation and programmable aspects of motorized shades are really fascinating. Home automation systems allow you to set the mood in your home the minute you walk in the door. For example, when you come home from work and open your garage door, that becomes the ‘trigger’ for certain house lights coming on, music playing, window treatments opening or closing, depending on how you’ve programmed it. Scheduling your window treatments to open and close at certain times can allow you to save on energy costs as well,” explains Pam.

She says they partner with The Sound Room in Chesterfield Valley, Payne Family Homes, Lombardo Homes, Benton Homes and several others allowing homeowners to incorporate their window treatments into their home mortgage. Motorized shades can be hard wired during the construction phase, or battery powered for existing homes.

Shades can offer fashion as well as function. “In shades, there are a lot of new fabrics and designs that allow you to use your shades as an accent, or as the focal point of your room. You can customize them to blend all of the colors in your room.”

As far as color trends in window fashions, blues and grays are still popular, says Pam. “We’re seeing a lot of blues.”

Vertical window treatments have come a long way in recent years. You are no long limited to the traditional vertical blinds. The new vertical options allow privacy at night and complete openness and visibility during the day.

Faux wood blinds are a perfect choice when you want privacy at night and ability to control the level of visibility and light during the day.

Aluminum blinds have undergone an extensive upgrade offering a large selection of colors and textures including bright paint colors for children’s rooms, metal finishes for office or industrial spaces, and wood grain looks for a softer tone.

Pam says plantation shutters are still extremely popular. “Shutters are really timeless and can last forever.”

Blind Ambition also carries draperies and can help select the fabric that best suits your needs.

You can see their beautiful window treatments at the upcoming St. Jude Dream Home in Inverness at Dardenne Prairie later this year. This is the company’s 6th year as a proud partner of Payne Family Homes for the St. Jude Dream Home. Raffle tickets will be available in June at stjude.org/give/dream-home/st-louis.
